No. This is a one off as he was officially representing Anne. I am even considering removing Beatrice and Eugenie who are only ever mentioned if doing something with their father or whole royal family events but never when on their own ... but they are HRHs. The same with Tim - he only ever accompanies Anne so I am also thinking about removing him from the list as well.

FAILURE of British Monarchy Website to UPDATE CC

The weekly failure of the British Monarchy website: NOTHING is now missing. They seem to have their act together so will only now include a reference to this in future IF something is missing. Who knows they may even go back in time and check that missing dates from last year are updated.

Types of Engagements

This list was developed from the ‘other events’ and ‘other sports’ from last year. They are still there, of course, but this will give a greater range of the types of engagements that the royals undertake. This week has seen the greatest range of ‘first time for the year’ type of engagements included this year.

ILuvBertie-The British Monarchy website might have finally come to its senses when it realized that TRF was going to keep track of their FAILURES each week! Thank you for keeping up this tally.

It certainly can't have hurt to have the missing dates revealed each week but I don't take the credit for them doing their work.

Weekly update to 19th March, 2015

A very busy week with 137 engagements. The Afghanistan service and the overseas visits of Charles, Camilla and Anne (yes Anne has also been overseas in the Philippines this past week but no one would know it from the media coverage she received). FAILURE of British Monarchy Website to UPDATE CC

The weekly failure of the British Monarchy website: NOTHING is now missing but they only updated the entire week overnight, for me, on Friday night. When I went to bed on Friday night they had nothing updated after the 12th but when I arose on Saturday there was the entire week up. Most annoying as it takes about 30 minutes a day when they put up a day but almost four hours when the do the entire week in one go, just when I need to do normal ‘weekend’ activities. At least it is still up to date for this year.

Weekly update to 26th March, 2015

A slower week this week with only 106 engagements. This included Charles and Camilla’s final day in the US along with the Duke of Gloucester’s engagements in Leicester for Richard III’s re-internment. The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh had a full day in Kent, which included being received at the Battle of Britain exhibition by Prince Michael of Kent, which is his engagement for the week. Princess Alexandra hasn’t done any engagements since 25th February so I am wondering if she is all that well. I don’t think anything has been said which I have missed but that is possible.

A note about next week's entry. As Friday is Good Friday I am not expecting the monarchy website to update for Thursday at least and probably not for the entire week until at least the following Tuesday their time or Wednesday my time so there will probably be a delay with putting it up.

Weekly update to 2nd April, 2015

Finally the British Monarchy website has updated for the 2nd April, 2015. Hopefully they will update from the 3rd to 10th April soon as that would include Harry’s arrival in Australia on Monday. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is the only engagement of the week.

Last week was fairly quiet as the family prepared for the Easter break. It is traditionally a slow week as is the week after Easter as well.

The weekly failure of the British Monarchy website: NOTHING is now missing up to the 2nd April. Nothing from the 3rd April onwards yet.

I have just done a check on the British Monarchy website and the message is 'No Results Found' for the week from the 3rd to 9th April. That includes Harry's arrival in Australia which at this point in time are not being reported as official engagements for him on the official website.

There have been no engagements since the last one's I posted. In fact there has been no CC.

Sophie and Edward in SA on 10th April is the only one. Here it is in case the Royal website fails again.

Buckingham Palace
10th April, 2015
The Earl of Wessex and The Countess of Wessex, Patron, Ubunye Foundation, this morning visited the Mgcamabele Community Centre on Kwandwe Private Game Reserve, Grahamstown, South Africa, and were received by the British High Commissioner to the Republic of South Africa (Her Excellency Mrs Judith Macgregor).

That is interesting as it means that Harry's arrival in Australia and laying the wreath at our War Memorial weren't official engagements for him at all.

Weekly update to 9th April, 2015

In all my years of doing this I have never recorded a week in which absolutely no official engagements took place so this is a first for me. I have only been reading the CC on a regular basis since about 2002 so not all that long but still a first.

HM The Queen - 102 (102 – no change – 11.5%)
HRH The Duke of Edinburgh - 54 (54 – no change – 6.1%)

HRH Prince Henry of Wales - 11 (11 – no change – 1.2%)* NB The CC has no mention of his visit to the Australian War Memorial on 6th April – this is the sort of event that is normally in the CC but with no CC mention then it was an unofficial duty not an official one.

HRH Princess Beatrice of York – 0 (0 – no change – 0%)

If they post date anything I'll let you know.

I think that this engagement being included is wrong. they are on holiday with their children and its included ( and leads me to wonder how its paid for).

Harry's engagement should be in the CC on every level - Uk and Commonwealth. sophie's office is definitely more on the ball than KP.

Louise and James attended with them but were not listed in the CC so the visit was likely a private visit that they organised to coincide with their family holiday.

The engagement of Edward and Sophie is no different to William and Kate taking George to Australia. They are doing official duties and the timing meant that it was in the school holidays so they have arranged to take the children along - so long as they are paying all expenses associated with taking the children there really should be no issue.

Charles took Harry with him when he undertook an official visit to Southern Africa in 1997 and no one objected to that. Charles undertook official engagements and even took Harry to some of them but Harry wasn't mentioned in the CC so he wasn't part of the official party.

The days of leaving the children at home while Mum and Dad are off overseas doing official duties has past it seems. The alternative would be to have either not accepted the invitation OR left the children at home. This way they are able to do both and expose the children to a different culture at the same time.

Weekly update to 16th April, 2015

Many of the royal family were back to work this week after their week off last week.

A note about last week’s figures – they were the wrong set of figures. What I do each week is change the figure inside the brackets to the one outside the brackets before putting the new figure outside the brackets and then doing the ‘up xxx’ or ‘no change’ but for some reason I put the figures from inside the brackets to the outside and so the figures for last week were actually from the end of March and not the ones for the 2nd and 9th April. How I came to make that mistake I don’t know – unless it was something to do with the dose of bronchitis I had at the time.

HM The Queen - 113 (110 – up 3 – 11.5%)

FAILURE of British Monarchy Website to UPDATE CC

The weekly failure of the British Monarchy website: They still have no entry for the 6th April – the day that Harry arrived in Australia and visited the Australian War Memorial. This is the sort of engagement that would normally be included in the CC but there is nothing for this date meaning that Harry has done no official engagements in Australia at all. Maybe this will be corrected, if it is brought to the notice of the powers that be via making this oversight public.

Weekly update to 23rd April, 2015

A slowish week this past one as the royal family return to their work after the Easter break. The Duke of Kent has been quite busy since arriving in Australia – yes he is here but from the coverage he has received it wouldn’t be known which is sad as he has been a true servant of HM for decades and gone wherever asked and has shown great support for the military as both as an active officer as well as since in the Honourary rolls and his work with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. He is the one who normally takes the lead at ANZAC Day commemorations in the UK, except in the big years such as this one.

HM The Queen - 115 (113 – up 2 – 11.1%)
HRH The Duke of Edinburgh - 69 (63 – up 6 – 6.6% -accompanied – 36)

The 'league table'

There has been some discussion on various threads at times about reducing the size of the royal family. IF the idea is for the royal family to be Charles and his family and maybe his siblings these are those who would be doing duties. Charles and his line are in purple and his siblings and spouses are in green. The Queen and Philip are in red. These discussions often work best if facts and figures can be included rather than just impressions so for those who would like to argue this issue these figures may be usable.
