Princess Beatrix at Portrait Unveiling at the Beatrix Childen’s Hospital
Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands today unveiled a series of portraits of herself at the Beatrix Children’s Hospital of the University Medical Center Groningen.
The portraits – which have been arranged to create a collage – were donated to the hospital by their artist Marte Röling. The Princess was assisted by 4-year-old Guus in unveiling the pieces by pressing a large red button to drop the curtain. At the same time, a neon sign on the hospital’s roof reading ‘Beatrix Kinderziekenhuis’ lit up.
Princess Beatrix was then given a tour of the hospital, where she met with patients, their parents, doctors and nurses, and research staff.
The Beatrix Children’s Hospital provides 150 beds to children up to the age of 18 who are suffering from illness.
