The couple were welcomed by the Deputy Prime Minister of Spain, Soraya Saenz de Santamaria, and the President of the Victims of Terrorism Foundation, María del Mar Blanco. The Foundation annually arranges the memoriam concert to honour the memory of victims of terrorism in Spain. It is attended by members of the Royal Family, the Spanish government, major institutions and social entities, as well as family members of victims.

Before the concert began, the Spanish national anthem La Marcha Real was sung followed by a moment of silence and a brief speech by Ms del Mar Blanco, who thanked King Felipe and Queen Letizia for their “firm commitment to the memory, dignity, truth and justice” of Spain’s victims of terrorism.

The 2015 concert was performed by the Radio Spanish Television Symphony Orchestra and Choir conducted by Miguel Ángel Gómez-Martínez and Javier Corcuera. They entertained the guests with pieces by Beethoven, Poulenc and Borodin.
