Baptism of Willem Jan van Vollenhoven
Prince Floris and Princess Aimée baptised their son, Willem Jan, yesterday at the chapel of Palace Het Loo in Apeldoorn.
All members of the Dutch Royal Family, bar Princess Mabel and her two daughters, attended the event. While they were posing for photos upon arrival, some of the family joked that Willem Jan was the first child they had seen walk into their own baptism (the youngest van Vollenhoven was born on July 1, 2013).
Willem Jan’s baptism was postponed due to the illness of his uncle, Prince Bernhard, who has been suffering from non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Prince Floris and Princess Aimée selected Prince Pieter-Christiaan, Prince Alexander von Isenburg, Floris Leeuwens and Cooske Alberda van Ekenstein-Ten Cate to be their son’s godparents.
