On June 12th prince Carlos of Bourbon-Parma married Annemarie Gualthérie van Weezel in a civil ceremony at the city hall of Wijk bij Duurstede. Prince Carlos is the eldest son of the duke of Parma and princess Irene of the Netherlands. After the civil ceremony Annemarie can now call herself Princess Annemarie of Bourbon-Parma, Duchess of Piacenza, Duchess of Madrid. She however told the press that she will continue using her maiden name for her work as parlamentary journalist for the NOS (public channel).

The civil wedding was a low-key affair and only three pictures of the couple were released. There were no pictures of the wedding guests, not even of the couple’s parents. They only posed with the mayor of Wijk bij Duurstede in front of the door of the 17th century city hall.

The couple announced their engagement on October 7th. The religious wedding will be celebrated on August 28th in Brussels. In an interview they said that various royals were invited for their wedding, among them members of the Dutch and Belgian royal families. It is still not clear in which church the couple will marry.

More about the wedding can be found in this thread.
