Barbara Cartland had a wider face, wore tons of makeup, and I think only wore pink. Also Diana wasn't on good terms with her, especially at that time - she wasn't invited to the wedding.

Oh yeah I knew Dame Barbara wasn't at the wedding but I thought maybe they were ok with each other until shortly before.

Squidgy,
Thank you so much for the date and occasion of the photo in the car.:flowers: And you're right -- that does seem to be the sparkly blue fabric of the spaghetti-strap dress showing below her coat.

I have a question regarding photos I've never seen but assume exist. In the new Sarah Bradford book, she states there was a "horde of photographers" outside of Dodi's London apartment in August '97, when Diana arrived for dinner. Has anyone ever seen those photos? I also read that she was wearing a navy cocktail dress that night. Also, are there any photos from August 1992, during the last Wales family cruise aboard John Lastis yacht? I've only seen a picture of Diana in a green sleeveless dress boarding the yacht but no others. If anyone could post pictures from these events that would be great!

I´ve seen photos from the cruise in 1992... but I have no idea where :) could have been here on TRF... Squidgy?

I don't know who the woman in the car is either.
But I can help with the occasion. It is Mar. 3 1981 & they are making a private visit to the Royal Opera House to see "L'Africaine".
It looks like Diana is wearing that blue cocktail dress that she wore again on June 23 1981
I have read in my notes she wore this dress july 15 1981. Did she wear this dress in both events or I have my notes wrong?

Pilar, you may have got the date July 15 1981 from that book the "Story of Diana" which has a fashion diary - a listing of her appearances & what she wore. But as many on the Forum have said, quite a few dates in that book were wrong.

I got the date June 23 1981 from the Court Circular which is published by Buckingham Palace, so it should be pretty reliable. Parts of the Court Circular were published in Majesty & Royalty magazine, so if you have any old issues from those magazines they may be helpful.

Sorry, I can't help you ladies. While there were lots of photos taken of the 1991 cruise, I too have only seen the "green dress" photos from the 1992 cruise. I guess it was a real private cruise.

If any one has any other photos I would like to join in also and beg them to post them ... please!!

Sorry, I have no new pictures of that cruise, but mention of John Latsis, the owner of the yacht, reminds me: I think he is the man in the bright blue suit pictured with Diana in PrincessDianafan's post #12 on Page 1 of this thread. (Photo taken June 2, 1992)

I was recently looking through that huge book Diana: An Extraordinary Life, and there's a photo of Latsis in there. It sure looks like the same man.

I agree. That was John Latsis.

I was looking for a thread of Diana's gala dresses and maybe I missed it. I wanted to ask, how do you compare Diana's gala dresses to the ones the crown princesses are wearing today ? It's a fashion question, not a judgmental question.

Those pictures from her visit to Mother Teresa's missionary and Angola are great. I never saw most of those particular shots, and never saw those moments in such good quality. In the Angola pictures, her eyes seem very light grey. I don't remember seeing her with grey eyes before.

I am curious if anyone has ever seen a photograph of Princess Diana at one of the annual Ghillies Ball held at Balmoral every year? I've seen pictures of the Queen, Princess Royal and Princess Margaret but never Diana. Also, the Wales family took a second trip to the Scilly Island when William and Harry were young but I've never seen photos of that trip either. I know there are some real photo pros out there so hopefully one of you might have some pictures!

Pics when she carries or receives flowers. (from Corbis)
These are wonderful photos and truly shows her basic delightful character- she is totally focusing on the children who are presenting her with the bouquets and is not looking for cameras, a good standard for today's crown princesses.

Thank you for those TheTruth! :flowers:
I really like the picture of 'Soldier' Diana, she looks very nice there.

Not sure I like the Red dress one though, she doesn't look like herself there, too unnatural, imo.
But the rest of the pictures are great.

Great pictures Truth. The red dress picture looks as if Diana was posing for a photo shoot in a magazine such as Vogue or Vanity Fair.

Cool designers are reinventing some of Diana's old clothes.

Nice pictures, especially the one where she is in a hospice in Pakistan.

Boy that Prince William surely does look a lot like his mother, especially during his 18th birthday pictures when he looked real young and, IMO, he looked a little too feminine in the suit and white stiffen collar.

Yes and her mother had to bury her ex-husband, her daughter and the son of her second husband, Adam Shand Kydd.
