Prince Harry and Meghan Markle: Church Service, Carriage Procession - May 19, 2018

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Yes, I agree. Edward and Sophie used the Ascot Landau for the carriage ride through Windsor in 1999 after their wedding. The coachmen then must have discovered how manoeuvrable that particular carriage was.

I watched everything with a lot of expectation that Meghan would show some respect to the Queen. I was sadly dissappointed. Not once in the church nor after the ceremony when legally she became a subject under the Queen Elizabeth II , did she curtsy to her. Most shameful of a new person in the family to show such disrespect. However , I hope that she soon gains enough knowledge of the enormity of the Queens life time responsibilities and burdens for her country to show her some common courtesy if not the regal kind.
Seriously calm down. I didn't even watch the service and I know she bowed to the Queen but the cameras didn't get a good look at it. Do you think a woman who converted to the Anglican religion, curtsied to the Queen on Christmas, and sent her bouquet to WA to be placed on the tomb wouldn't curtsy to the Queen at her wedding?

A Australian artist has released a series of hand-drawn sketches of Harry and Meghan and their guests.

She is extremely talented. The vibrancy of color and the beautiful detail in the faces is impressive. This woman should have been hired to do Kate's first portrait. [emoji6]

Watched the wedding Coverage again...

I didn’t know that the Rolls-Royce Phantom Meghan arrived to the wedding in was Princess Elizabeth and The Duke of Edinburgh’s first official car. Meghan chose it for that reason.

I cant help but say that the Cambridge’s are one beautiful family. We don’t see them often as a family, so seeing the four on the Chapel’s steps was extra special.

I absolutely loved the fact that Lord and Lady Fellowes were part of the family on the main steps to see the Sussex’s off. I know many people never thought we’d see Diana’s sister and Camilla in close proximity of each other.

I've never heard of any particular animosity Diana's sisters had toward Camilla....so I never thought anything of it.

I always love watching the little bridesmaids and pageboys and this group didn't disappoint. I enjoyed reading this story too. Thank you for posting it.

They were hardly visible. So, in that way it was disappointing to me. They walked behind the brude/couple and were immediately wisked away as soon as they arrived at the altar or church door. So, little chance for mischief but very underwelmed by the extremely tiny role and rather chaotic way they walked along.

That was indeed very touching. A clear and understated way to include Diana/Harry's maternal side of the family.

I don't believe there was much involvement of Robert and Jane Fellowes during the turmoil that was the Wales' marriage. Robert, at the time was Private Secretary to the Queen and although Jane was Diana's sister, I think Diana kept her distance from them due to the fact that the Fellowes were too close to the "opposite side". The Fellowes, I believe, remained in neutral camp.

Only thing I've really read that stuck with me was that Lord Fellowes was deeply hurt when he found out that Diana did collaborate on the Morton book and felt she let him down.

Charles and Camilla most likely are on friendly terms with the Fellowes so it was nice to see them coming together as a family for Harry. :D

No, but just stating that how things went down back in the day, it’s just historic in it’s own right to see them pictured together and that the past is in the past for the families.

Yes from what I understand he offered to resign but the Queen refused to accept it.

Another thing I noticed during the ceremony is the demeanor between AOC and the couple. It seems the three have a great rapport together.

Has anyone talked about the music Meghan walked down the aisle to? I thought it was very serene.

I thought that Meghan"s entrance was epic....one of the highlights of tne wedding The Welsh soprano's voice was angelic and surreal....the combination with the sunlight beaming through the stain glass windows on Meghan's tiara and veil was pure magic!

Meghan's decision to walk up part of the aisle alone was inspired....I saw a strong, confident, independent woman.

I totally agree. The drama of the light, that veil, and the music was incredible.

Yes, it was a truly memorable moment, dramatic in the best sense of the word.

My favorite part of the wedding to rewind is Meghan's entrance. To me, that's the most iconic moment of the day. It's such a shame that the soloist hasn't received the kind of acclaim the other performers have--maybe because she was off-camera. Her voice was so beautiful and haunting. Did Prince Charles select that piece of music? If so, it was the perfect choice, especially with the bride walking down the aisle unaccompanied for most of it. The wedding service was beautifully planned and orchestrated, with the exception of Bishop Curry whose sermon should have been about 5 minutes shorter.

Very different from the publicity Dame Kiri Te Kanawa received for her rendition of Handel's "Let The Bright Seraphim" at Charles' and Diana's wedding. It was wonderful. A majestic and triumphant sound..............but as you say, the Welsh soprano's voice was beautiful and haunting. It had an ethereal quality which perfectly complimented the bride's, sunlight enhanced, unaccompanied walk.

I love the fact that Bishop Curry preached the sermon that Harry and Meghan gave him to preach. He took the whole world to church. I can also say that the sermon woke up members of the royal family. Not one of them look drawn and looked like they lost their best friend...like they usually do at other celebration church ceremonies.

They gave him a sermon to preach? and I havent' seen all the wedding but I got the impression that Harry's "side" were trying not to giggle too audibly with embarrasmetn over his long speech...

Yes, what Bishop Curry preached is the sermon the couple gave him to deliver.
Parts of his preaching was meant to make people laugh. That let you know he did his job.

This was a joyous occasion and everything the couple put together for their wedding was beyond beautiful and joyous.

I still haven't watched the wedding in full but I have heard that many people think the RF looked amused by Bishop Curry. As for the soprano I feel she was much better than the one who sang at Charles and Diana's wedding. Her voice and the sun shining in on Meghan were remarkable. I've liked most of the music the brides have walked down the aisle to.

What do you men the couple gave him? He wrote his own sermon. Imo not only was it too long, it didn’t make a lot of sense. Especially given the audience. Talking about the antebellum south and MLK doesn’t have anything to do with a British royal wedding.

It was a truly amazing moment. Her entrance alone, while the beautiful voice of the soloist rang through the church was iconic. Gave me chills, actually.

Yes, they gave him to the sermon to preach. Bishop Curry said this himself in an interview. They gave him The Song of Solomon to preach and he did his job. He preached about love, God is love and how we should hang God’s love in and on everything. It also goes way beyond the union of a couple.

The problem is that people are too focused on the sermon going over a few minutes than the message, which was more important. Harry and Meghan loved every minute of it. Also, people forget that The Queen have heard this style of preaching before. She was a big admirer of Rev. Billy Graham and his style of preaching. Again, he took the world back to church and no members of the Royal Family looked bored stiff. You know, the usual look we get from the family during other church celebrations.

This Royal Wedding had Harry and Meghan written all over it because they are the ones that put this celebration together.

I'd say the Antebellum South and Martin Luther King is very relevant at a wedding involving an African American.

The royal couple gave Bishop Michael Curry The Song of Solomon to preach. Which is pretty much love poetry. During his interview on The View he talked about this.

I think they just asked him to preach from a certain scripture.

He talked about the perseverance of faith among the enslaved, and quoted MLK as a Christian preacher. Meghan is expected to follow the traditions of the BRF. I don't see the harm in Meghan's wish to honor her and Doria's background as well. Meghan is the descendent of slaves and she's has every right to be proud of where her family came from, and to honor that history at her wedding.
