Watching Victoria give out the Astrid Lingren award made me think it might be nice for a daughter of hers to have a name from the most famous Swedish children's books! What do you all think about Princess Annika?

The character Madicken's real name is Margareta and I think that could be a possible name for a little Princess. The name Astrid is also very beautiful.
I doubt we'll see a Princess Pippilotta Viktualia Rullgardina Krusmynta (Efraimsdotter Långstrump) though

That will not happen - atleast not as first name, possibly as middle names (atleast Daniel). This is the future king or queen of sweden we are talking about and it will surely be a reference to history - victoria find those things very important. So it will most likely be an Oscar, Gustav, Erik or Carl - Christina, Desiree, Ingrid, Sibylla, Lovisa/Louise or Ulrika.

29th February is a bit cruel. I think it will be an early February baby, so something like 2.2.2012 would be a nice date. I was rooting for a girl, but it actually does not matter and I still like Oscar or Lovisa the best.

I think the name is announced after council, same as Norway, so it might not be the same day of the birth but a day or two later. Someone pls. correct me if I'm wrong.

All the names of Victoria and her siblings were announced within a day or two after their birth, and the same will probably be done this time too.

Looking at Victoria's belly at the Nobel Prize ceremony tells me that she is having a boy.

I've noticed that when the baby bump seems to be coming right out of the ribcage, its a boy. Plus, Victoria wore blue...is it a hint?

But I could be wrong. I once thought a woman I worked with was having a girl based on her bump, but instead had a boy.

The carrying low = boy and carrying high = girl doesn't apply to everyone, so I wouldn't count on that to tell what the baby's sex is. Victoria and Daniel probably don't even know yet.

Some also say a mother gains weight more evenly if it's a girl while the "boy belly" is more pronounced. I don't know how much of all this is true but some of it might be. Based on Victoria's glowing appearance she's expecting a boy but then again other factors would point to a girl. Maybe it's both..?

Edit: Just saw pictures from today. I think she might be expecting a boy. I reserve the right to change my mind later however... I wish it was a girl but as long as it's healthy...

It's pretty nice that they're announcing it that soon, it's just a pain in the ... to wait 3-5 months to hear the name.

For a girl I'm pretty sure of either Margareta or Christina (it would be funny though if she named her kid Christina, then Sweden would have a future Queen Christina and Denmark would have a future King Christian), for a boy I think it will be a little Carl ~something~ like his uncle and grandfather.

i understand your point, but its all about myths!
my aunt (father's side) had 2 pregnancies, the 1st pregnacy she had such a HUGE belly (coming from the back too) and she had lots of pimples on the face, the 2nd pregnancy was the opposite, she was glowing, babt bump was small (she didnt look pregnant from behind) and her skin was so clean. both diferent pregnancies, both were born girls!!!
i also know a friend that hair grew on her belly, in the end it was a girl and not a boy.

in my opinion, it all depends on the baby's weight and lenght on the format of the mothers belly (some girls are huge other dont and vise-versa for boys too)
