A woman "besieged" (as the Telegraaf puts it) the Queen at the end of today's event. She wanted to give the queen a letter about the school problems of her 17 y/o physically disabled son, who is home for already 11 months as there are no appropriate books and online programs with which he can work.

The security tried to stop the lady but the queen walked to her and accepted the letter. The lady already wrote to the cabinet of the King before, and always received a response to these letters, but apparently the child is still at home as no solution was found.

We can only hope, that she will read this letter and can make something to help this woman...

Have to say that I am impressed with the manner that Maxima's security quickly moved in to put some separation between the two, but I am even more impressed by Maxima's decision to go and retrieve the letter. ?

Late to the story but full marks to Maxima for turning around and approaching the mother. I know plenty of royals who would have simply walked on and ignored her but in this day and age it would have just appeared entitled and aloof. This was typical Maxima!

She said that she and her husbands thoughts are with the families affected,and she had no words to describe the tragedy.
