The funeral is set for Monday, and the King has no changes to his programme on that day, so it's not likely that he'll attend.

the article mentions that there seems to be no anger from mette marit about what her father did to her exposing her to ridicule after the engagement with haakon, that she is organising the funeral. sven apparently passed away at his home, accompained by mette marit's mother and brother and her step-father and espen was the one who communicated his death to the press. it also mentions that it is still unknown whether the royal family will attend the funerals.

The HOLA pictures are old, from when they returned from India

Here is the death notce from the local paper, it is signed by his children (and their wifes/husbands) the oldest first, then his ex wife, and then the grandchildren and at last his siblings

Nettavisen - Politiet tar konge-grep

Vg has several pictures of Mette-Marits brothers and her sister doing arrangements, talking to the minister etc, so it seems to me it is her siblings that is doing most of the arrangements and she is beeing kept in the backround, esp as the press has still not gotten any pictures of her and Haakon.

The attendance of the King and Queen is lovely- they have shown such support to Mette Marit, in contrast to her father. I really applaud them.

I hope that Sven can now finds the peace that seemed to be lacking in his life.

i applaud the King and the Queen attendance, they are very great.
Mette-Marit's father obviously let his daughter's new status go to his head.
May he repose in peace

Cool

My condolences to the Crown Princess and her family. I had read on other royal message boards that Mette-Marit with Haakon's support had reconciled with her father late last year. When it was announced last autumn that Mr. Hoiby was diagnosed with lung cancer and he opted for surgery but not radiation or chemotherapy I knew the disease would be progress rapidly. I lost my father in 1994 and it still is hard especially on the anniversery of his death and my mother has been diagnosed with lung cancer since last spring even though she has never smoked. It's a hard road so I'm grateful that Mette-Marit has a loving family and a loving Royal family for support in this sad time.

Yes. I've read this in other Royal Forums. I'm happy that Princess Mette Marit could have reconcilied to her father. No matter what his father did, he was her father, and of course she loved and respected him. That shows that she is a good person.

And of course, King Harald and Queen Sonja's attitude is excellent. It's clear that for them, family IS important, and they understood that the Crown Princess need support.

Vanesa.

Thanks for the pictures Larzen & HerMajesty! I would have hoped the media would have left them alone though to grieve. But, you know the photographers... Wow! That was the first time I've seen Mette-Marit's mother, I imagined her a little different. So sad, the picture of her hugging her daughter.
