Tillykke Prins Christian!!

The grown up Prince now towers over both his parents and he is still growing.

The Crown Princely couple have done a phenomenal job in raising their children.
I recall years ago how Princess Josephine (I think) during a walk about turned and asked her mom if it was ok to touch a baby. I thought that was so poignant- at a very early age she was taught to respect people and their boundaries. Also how could we forget the poise and grace that a young Princess Isabella showed in Samse.

Denmark out to be very proud!

The outfit of Queen Margrethe is very similar to the dress she wore at Frederik and Mary's wedding. Was it intentional? If yes, then that's a lovely touch

Archduchess Zelia referred to a moment when Mary talked about her son, having grown up.

According to BB Mary and Christian looked at each other when she said that, perhaps this moment: https://billedbladet-prod.imgix.net/...=imgixjs-3.4.0
https://www.billedbladet.dk/kongelig...er-blevet-stor
"Imagine that little man having turned into this huge young man."

Mary and Christian said the celebration would take place at Kancellihuset, with dinner, a cozy atmosphere and speech.

- Well, hopefully he will be spared the zillion homemade songs in his honor, that are otherwise a tradition of Danish celebrations. - It took me about two months to straighten my toes after the songs at my own confirmation.

Another tradition in connection with confirmation is "Blue Monday."
Those who have been confirmed venture into the nearest city in droves and dressed in their new clothes. Here they roam the streets, cafes, shops and amusement parks spending money on pretty much everything. - Traditionally this was after all their first day on their own as adults.
Beforehand they were on their own, but today it's common for a group of parents to stay at a location nearby, so they can seek help if need be. And get a ride home.
Thieves targeting confirmands have also been an issue, unsurprisingly.
- It is speculated whether Christian and his mates will go to Bakken or Tivoli, the two major amusements parks in Copenhagen and a place where confirmands tend to gather.

A BB article focusing on Isabella and her wearing mascara:
https://www.billedbladet.dk/kongelig...-stil#134486-4
As well as all the other things she wore. No mentioning of design or jewellery though.
According to BB it is more than likely that Mary's stylist, Anja Alajdi and her hairdresser, Søren Hedegaard, had a hand in the family's appearance.

In one of the pictures (one with Christian proudly in the middle - and I can fully see him as the future crown prince and king) Isabella looked rather arrogant to me; probably her make up had something to do with it. She is most likely in that somewhat uncomfortable stage of being a young teenager trying to find her way (and all of that in the public eye).

Wonderful official pictures!
I especially love the one of Prince Christian with his proud parents

Great way how the Crown Prince and Crown Princess have chosen these more relaxed official photos - no need for official royal group photos when only one of Prince Christian's eight godfathers/mothers could participate in the confirmation.

The last group of today’s official pictures are wonderful too!

Covid-19 may had toned down Prince Christian’s confirmation in a large way, but the DRF have giving us A LOT from his confirmation and it seems to be a lovely and relaxed day for Prince Christian and family.

It seems like the confirmation was a very happy and meaningful event despite the many absences. I’m sure the family and friends who couldn’t make it found other ways to let Christian know they were thinking of him.

Mary and Frederik look deservedly proud of their son - Mary, especially, looks like she’s over the moon! This isn’t the first time Christian has spoken fairly off the cuff to a group of press and it’s clear he already has this important part of his future role mastered. I like how his parents are relaxed and content to fade into the background a little to give him centre stage - it shows the press and the public they have confidence in him, and in turn likely gives Christian confidence in himself.

Congratulations to Christian. What a fine young man he has become, taller than both of his parents! They seem to be a close and loving family. I hope he has a few more carefree years with his grandmother alive and kicking!

I thought in some of the videos Isabella looked like she was chewing gum when they emerged from the door after.

Christian has really grown up and become so tall.

The family fashion coordination was very cute

What a wonderful day and event. Even with covid restrictions having tone it down, the family love and union shinned through.

Some thoughts. Frederik is just handsome. Him and Christian with 3 piece suits look so dapper.
The official pictures throughout the day were just wonderful.
The Crown Prince family look so happy and united. Christian what a lovely young man. He has always been so caring since a young age with his parents and siblings. Today with his grandmother and mother, just full of love.
Love the moment of the Queen greeting her grandsons Nikolai and Felix. The moment of Frederik and Mary going back inside, holding hands, leaving Christian in his big day to face the press. You could see their love and the pride in their first born.

The crown prince family coming out to wave to the people who have gathered. Such a nice gesture

A nice celebration despite the Covid restrictions.

One question for the danish posters. Does confirmation also include taking Communion for the first time. And if yes it is during the Service or later.
Here in Germany usually at the evening of the confirmation day or a few days later a second Service takes place where all who have been confirmed take communion for the first time.

No, I remember from my preparations before confirmation that we took Communion.
I guess you can start as soon as you understand what is going on.
That's another question for our theologian, Benedikte.

-----------

A BB article on Christian being confident when asked questions:
https://www.billedbladet.dk/kongelig...-er-helt-blank
(Good, because I couldn't hear what he said, when seeing it on the news.)
Q: Have you (informal) had some nice confirmation-presents?
C: "No, not yet."

Q: Do you know what you get?
C: "No, I'm completely blank."

Q: What do you wish for?
Christian didn't respond. But presumably began to retire. Being congratulated by the journalists.
C: "Thank you very much."

-------------

And some guests: https://www.billedbladet.dk/kongelig...konfirmationen
25 in total. Half of them friends of Christian.
Ellen Hillingsøe with her two children: Anna, 17. And Thomas, 18.
Several classmates from school.
Among them Marcus Nowak and Sebastian Sander. (The Sander name rings a bell in the back of my mind.)
And I noticed the Reedtz-Thott family.

The Danish people can be rightly proud of their Royal Family. They are so generous of their time to speak with the press and provide good photos for us all to cherish. I have such lovely memories of Prince Christian as a little toddler and now here he is all grown up.

Does Prince Christian have to select a Confirmation name like a person does before being confirmed in the Catholic faith? Or is this not a requirement in the Danish Church?

Never heard about it in the Lutheran church, so I assume, he can just remain who he is.

The Danish royal tradition that stands out is that their names are only announced at their baptism/christening and not right after birth! Although, in Christian's case his first name wasn't hard to guess.

The Lutheren Church does not practice it in general, as Protestants do not ask Catholic canonized Saints for intercession.

Do you think Mary’s navy blue headband will make an appearance at theother childrens confirmations? Just like she wore the same white one for all childrens christenings...?

No idea. For the same money she will wear an champagne-rose headband to match with her dress and accessoires of that day.
