He may be agnostic also.
And Alina could be raised in her mother's confession.
There was somewhere an interview with her, but she was not asked to which religious community she belongs.

The Germans in Romania are Catholic or Lutherans. Usually their children even if from mixed marriages follow the confession of the German parent.

Is Alina Maria Binder Orthodox? Her parents are both Romanian?

For those of you who are interested in Alina Maria Binder's family:

According to a family profile on the Geni website Alina's mother Rodica Iancu is the daughter of Gheorghe Iancu (12 Feb 1924 - 21 Jan 1995) and <private> Lupalescu.

Gheorghe Iancu was the son of Nicolae Iancu and Draguta Iancu.

This information can be viewed publicly on the internet. Once you create a free Geni account you can also view the name of the person who manages the profile - Alina. I don't know if this is the Alina who is married to Nicholas Medforth-Mills or another Alina.

You can also contact the profile manager (Alina) but you must be a paid subscriber which I am not.

After more exploration I discovered you can in fact contact the profile manager (Alina) without a paid subscription. When I clicked on "Alina" the next screen provided her full name - Alina Maria Binder - so it is Nicholas Medforth-Mills' wife. The family profile was created on 31 August 2007.

I also found more information about Alina's father Heinz Binder. He is the son of Gheorghe Cucu and his wife Susanna Schopp (umlaut over the o) (12 June 1923 - 12 July 2005). The profile includes photographs of Gheorghe and Susanna.

Susanna was the daughter of Josef Schopp and Susanna Binder. The profile states Josef and Susanna were partners, it does not call them husband and wife. They had several children together.

The profile also provides more information on previous generations of the Cucu, Schopp and Binder lines.

Based on this information it appears Heinz Binder also had Romanian ancestry and took his maternal grandmother's surname.

I May be wrong but Alina Just might be currently going through religious instruction to become fully fledged in the Orthodox Fatih of her mother’s family. For Nicholas this would be so much more tidy for his descendents given the ramifications of the mixed marriage of his grandparents and the ill feeling that caused.

Let's hope Nicholas de Roumanie Medforth Mills is more opened and respects Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant a in the same way. His dathers family was not Orthodox and only one of his grandparents was in fact Orthodox.

An OT post about the hopes and dreams of monarchists for this couple has been removed. There is another thread where the topic of a restoration and the claim of Nicholas de Roumanie MM can be discussed.

In the couple's recent Point de Vue interview, Nicholas stated that his sister will be attending his and Alina's wedding.

He also very much hopes that the rest of his family will, too.

Heinz has his mother's surname (Binder) instead of his father's surname (Cucu)?

Heinz' mother on her turn has her mother's surname (Binder) instead of her father's (Schopp).

In a logic situation Alina Maria would have been Cucu, not Binder, which is her paternal grandmother's maiden surname.

Yes, if the information is correct then Gheorghe Cucu was Alina's paternal grandfather. It appears she is 3/4 Romanian not 1/2.

Any news about the date? ) Or it is only know that it will be in September? )

From Nicolae's biography at his new website:
"On October 6th 2017 Nicholas married Alina-Maria in Henley-on-Thames in a civil ceremony in the presence of family and friends from the UK and Romania."
Biography _ Nicolae al Romaniei

The interview Nicolae and Alina-Maria gave to Point de Vue is mostly about their religious wedding om 30th September, so I put it also here. Alina-Maria tells about her wedding dress, Nicolae tells that they still haven't got the answers from crown princess Margareta and Nicolae's mother princess Elena, to their invitations to the wedding. But Nicolae's sister will attend. Alina-Maria tells that the day before the wedding they will get a special blessing that is customary before the wedding. Nicolae tells that in Romania the weddings are traditionally held on Sunday afternoons and that after the church wedding they have a few hours to relax before they welcome their guests to the Casino.

I guess the unforgiving Margareta and Èlena won´t attend....!
