The body of Her Majesty the Queen arriving for the last time on Romanian soil, onboard a chartered Romanian plane and amidst a row of Romanian flags flying on half mast.

For those commenting (in several threads) about family who isn't there: what we don't know and what is a possibility is that one or two familymembers are with King Michael during these days....

Irina had some "problems" with the law lately.
I'm not even sure she's allowed to leave the USA.
Plus she was stripped of her royal title by her own father.

The only family members present today at Otopeni Airport and at Pekes were Princess Margareta, Princess Elena, Princess Sofia, Princess Maria as well as Ms Biarneix, Prince Radu, and Mr Nixon McAteer.

The royal family includes people born into the family (and legally recognised as such) or who have married into the family , no matter what title they hold zara philip is part of the royal family as much as princess beatrice of york is .

Is that official? Is he registered as Prince Radu?
The Romanian periodic topiasi.ro mentioned his passport ( link):
Ajuns în anturajul familiei regale, Radu Duda a adoptat atitudinea celor care ies din anonimat direct în luminile rampei. Autorităţile franceze i-au eliberat un pașaport unde, în dreptul numelui, scrie: "Radu, le mari de la princesse"
Translation of the bold sentence:
The French authorities delivered a passport with, next to his name, written: "Radu, le marie de la princesse". ("Radu, the husband of the princess".)

It is touching that the born-Catholic Anna was welcomed with Latin prayers when she arrived at the airport. The latin pronouncation was perfect as well. (I have heard that Romanian speak comes very close -in sound palette- to the ancient language of Rome). Interesting to see two candlebearers with the capes and insignia of Knights of the Order of Malta as well.

Irina is allowed to leave the USA. She has a passport. She has chosen not to go to the funeral. Her children are not going either.

That the government of Romania is acting as though it's still a monarchy and not a republic must be heartening to monarchists.
This is a very impressive display of respect.

Actually there is no such a thing. The vountry is a republic and no national funetal is prepared for the Queen.

Benjamin never said there was...
And i agree with him, it's an impressive display of respect from a country which has abolished monarchy so long ago
