i love maxima's clothes because they are fun and unusual and she has the style to pull it off. I was wondering if someone in her family died and she's in a mourning period because this is the second "event" she's been all in black, remember the christening. I think she looks beautiful but just seems unusual for her bright personality.

wow, i just loved the whole outfit. judging by the first pictures it seemed boring, but now the whole looks so so good. i think it's weird to see her all in black, but dark colours really suit her. the hat is lovely, but i think the problem is that it's too pushed up. marilene looked gorgeous as well, really elegant combining black and white. it's also very nice to see they both have a good relationship. i wonder why marilene accompained maxima, does marilene have patronages? if so, any patronages have to do with art?

Marilene also was involved in promoting the so-called 'vriendenpas' of the Rijksmuseum. She went to an art fair in the south of the Netherlands to promote it too. There are some pictures of that event in the Maurits & Marilene thread, I think. :)

What a great treat to see Maxima and Marilene out together. This is a rare pairing of the two Dutch M princesses aside from entire Dutch royal family gatherings or occasions (like Queen's Day)!

Maxima usually performs royal duties alone if not with her husband. And the rare occasions Marilene does perform royal duties, she is with her husband or with her van Vollenhoven sisters in law. I hope we'll get to see more pairings like this one in the future such as Laurentien with Annette or Laurentien with Marilene.
