Georg Jensen has chosen to recreate Queen Silvia's unique Easter Tablecloth - which she was with and designed herself.
The Danish design company supports Childhood, in their work against sexual abuse of children, and now sells the Queen's tablecloth in their web shop. The tablecloth costs SEK 1985 and of each sold tablecloth, SEK 1000 goes to Childhood's work.
Silvia has thus decided to lend the design from her personal Easter Tablecloth, which was woven for the occasion of her 60th birthday. Silvia designed the tablecloth together with the Danish designer Diana Holstein. In connection with the 60th anniversary, in 2003, also made a "normal" tablecloth and a Christmas tablecloth. The Easter tablecloth is of course also adorned with the queen's monogram.

Queen Silvia receives The Karl Kübel Prize

Die Karl Kübel Stiftung für Kind und Familie delivers this year the Karl Kübel Prize to Queen Silvia of Sweden. The native of Heidelberg will receive the prize worth 25,000 euros for her outstanding commitment to the protection of children. The prize money goes to her foundation "World Childhood Foundation". The Karl Kübel Foundation, which promotes children and parents around the world in order to give them a fair chance for education and a life of dignity and freedom, awards the prize on 6 September 2019 in Bensheim.
The day of the award ceremony is also the 110th birthday of the founder Karl Kübel (1909-2006). Like Queen Silvia, it was close to his heart today that children can grow up well protected, far from neglect and violence. "We are very pleased that Her Majesty can accept the award on this special day for us", says Daniela Kobelt Neuhaus from the board of the Karl Kübel Foundation.
"Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden has been working for children worldwide for many years in an extraordinary way. With her World Childhood Foundation, she is fighting against the exploitation and neglect of children, against mistreatment and abuse as well as for better living conditions for girls and boys", says Kobelt Neuhaus, explaining the Foundation's decision. "This perfectly complements the work of our foundation. Many of our projects in developing countries are working against the exploitation, violence and abuse of children to give them a better future. In Germany too, we work preventively in this area by offering low-threshold offers for familiesdevelop and implement them with cooperation partners. For example, in the area of early aid, the foundation is involved in the qualification of family midwives who advise parents and anticipate and reduce potential risks. "
With her foundation, founded in 1999, Queen Silvia is also committed to preventive measures and educating society in order to reduce the abuse and exploitation of children. Childhood is committed to empowering vulnerable children to become self-confident and responsible individuals through abuse.
"I am very happy about the award. The Karl Kübel Prize is a nice recognition for all employees of my foundation. The tribute emphasizes the importance of advocating for children who have experienced violence and abuse and persistently struggling to help these children", says Queen Silvia.

Madeleine arrived to Sweden yesterday.

- The princess has landed in Sweden. She came yesterday, says Margareta Thorgren.
Now Madeleine is charging for her first major assignment and already tomorrow it is time. Then she comes to Junibacken in Djurgården shortly after 15.00 to show her heart project, the children's book Stella och hemligheten for the first time.
- It will be a super exciting afternoon and we look so much forward to the book finally coming out, says Åsa Andreasson at Childhood.
- The princess will sit on the stage and tell, and there will be many children in place. There will be a lot of play and buses!
Does she have her own children with her tomorrow?
- No, it's Princess Madeleine coming from the family. After all, she is there as a writer, says Margareta Thorgren.
And Childhood's Åsa Andreasson says:
- This is a project that Princess Madeleine has dreamed for a long time. And as she has been carrying within a long time. She wanted to talk to children directly about these issues, not through adults. It is something that has grown up, and I think it is something that has become even stronger since she herself had children.
The Junibacken will be open as usual, and the princess's book launch will take place in a separate part.
But even if we can't meet Leonore, Nicolas and Adrienne, there will be many children (and many parents) in place anyway. Among other things, we will see several of Princess Madeleine's girlfriends .

Given that she had 2 co-authors (and an illustrator of course); I wonder what exactly Madeleine's contribution was: did she come up with the story line or just with the idea or did she sit down and write parts of the book or did she do the final editing?

A quick google search suggests that Marie Oskarsson most likely WROTE most of the book as the other co-author Karini Gustafson-Teixeira is also working for World Childhood - credited as 'Co-Founder of
ThankYou by Childhood' -the other one being Madeleine; it seems that Thank You is their awards and gala event- on the USA-website (that states Madeleine's name and title as 'HRH princess Madeleine Bernadotte of Sweden').

Yes, and the idea is very similar to the book which Victoria and Daniel's Generation Pep published with Bonnier Carlsen (the same publisher than at Madeleine's book). To publish a children's book for children, with some serious material in it. Generation Pep sent a press release in January 2017 that they and Bonnier Carlsen publish children's book "Sagasagor: Fiffiga kroppen och finurliga knoppen" (Saga Tales: Nifty bodies and shrewd heads) written by author Josefine Sundström. A book with the goal of awakening the children's desire for physical activity. It was published in May 2017. The differences are that Josefine Sundström had already published Sagasagor-books previously and wrote the serie's new book for Generation Pep alone. And Generation Pep's book is divided into two parts. The first is a story about Saga and the other encourages children and parents to activate themselves along with many tips on movements and games.

Daniel Sjölin's review about Madeleine's book
When it comes to "Stella och hemligheten", one must first sort out who made it. We know the illustrator: She is called Stina Lövkvist and keeps away from the press material, there is not even a picture of her on the publisher's website. Then the question is who wrote. Is it A: Author Marie Oskarsson, who has a long and solid authorship with books about Buster, Hanna, Hedda and Uma and fact books for adults and children. Or B: Karini Gustafson-Teixeira, buddy with the princess and initiator of the World Childhood Foundation's #EyesWideOpen campaign, which goal is to raise awareness of the children who fall victim to trafficking and sexual exploitation each year. Or C: Madeleine Thérèse Amelie Josephine Bernadotte, duchess of Hälsingland and Gästrikland. Or D: A team of publishers and child psychologists.
"The adult reader realizes the perhaps most disgusting thing a small child can suffer."
"A young reader may simply not understand what is happening."

World Childhood Foundation Sverige at its website:

Childhood Prize
Childhood celebrates years in 2019. As part of our twenty-year anniversary, we have instituted a prize that we want to distribute to a person in Sweden who works daily to protect children from violence and sexual abuse, but who rarely receives recognition for his/her efforts - an invisible hero simply. The prize winner can be a police officer, a pediatric nurse or a child interrogation specialist.
The Childhood Prize will be awarded annually and would like to draw attention to the people in Sweden who are crucial in keeping children safe but whose work is not always visible most - such as police officers or employees in social services, care and school. A professional group is in focus each year. The award is to be awarded to a person who stands out in their professional role, shows great personal commitment, ability to cooperate with others and has achieved concrete results to protect children from violence and sexual abuse.
The prize sum of SEK 50,000 is to be used for something that makes the prize-winner even better in his/her professional role - for example for participation in an international conference, a study trip or further education.

Nomination for Childhood Prize 2019
The 2019 Childhood Prize will be awarded to a person in Sweden who is working to investigate sexual abuse of children, such as a police officer, child investigator, forensic / forensic technician, a child interrogation specialist, prosecutor or the like.
Anyone can nominate candidates for the Childhood Prize. If you know someone who belongs to the above mentioned professional groups and excels in their professional role - nominate them for our prize here.
Deadline for nomination is November 1, 2019.
By November 25, we will announce the three finalists. The prize ceremony will be held on December 9, 2019.
