Hi Muhler - will do.
Previously Anh has "done" Britain and Vietnam and those shows were ratings winners.
Certainly he is a very popular chap here, and this new program is being heavily promoted with clips of CP Mary and CP Frederick's wedding in amongst Anh dodging the Royal Guards, riding bikes around etc.
(Sweden and Iceland are also covered.)
Cheers, Sun Lion.
(I saw the Oprah show - hard to compare life in Denmark with life in the US. Some things must have puzzled her American audience I think.)

HerogNu can today announce that Frederik and Mary - together with all four children - this summer will make a two weeks long Summer Cruise to Greenland aboard Dannebrog. The family will for two weeks visiting the east and west coast and visit the various towns and settlements. The magazine can even give the dates. F+M and the children will go to Greenland the last week of July and stay there for two weeks (which fits perfectly with Christian and Isabella's school start in the middle of August)
HerogNu doesn't write where they have their information from, but the Greenlandic newspapers have the last couple of weeks written about an upcoming visit this summer, but hasn't gived much information yet.
Let's hope HerogNu's information is correct

 That would be great, Roskilde.
A big experience for all of them and I think the Greenlanders will welcome the family with open arms.
Cool, Sun Lion.
I'll look forward to what you can tell us about the show.

Really hope the information is correct, it will be great to see the whole family on this cruise.
We know how much Frederik loves Greenland and Mary does now as well, it will be lovely for them to take the four children to meet the people and for the Greenlanders to get to know their cute kids.

The information is correct!
I actually wrote to BB (yes i did ) and asked them kindly if they could confirm the information about the Crown Prince family's summer cruise. I have just got this response back:
"Yes, can you be sure that we can confirm that. The Crown Prince Couple will take on summer cruise with Dannebrog to Greenland this summer. We look SO much forward to follow along on the trip and we guess that there will be lots of fantastic pictures of Frederik, Mary and their four children in the beautiful surroundings - and perhaps national costumes? Exciting! Best wishes from the editors."

Hi Muhler,
Just now able to watch Anh's show, and it was really striking how fluently the Danes on camera spoke English.
Anh went to a restaurant - "Ida Davidsen" - that has fed the Danish Royal Family for a couple of generations and spoke with the lady, Ida, running it.
There are one hundred and seventy seven versions of Denmark's open sandwiches to choose from on the menu, and Anh tried the one called the "Prince Frederik" - named after CP Frederik as it is his favourite.
(Pate, tomato, cucumber and fried onion.)
We also saw Princess Marie's favourite - very colourful with salmon caviar and asparagus
They all looked very healthy and very attractive.
Anh asked about CP Mary's favourite, but there isn't one named after her yet. (She hasn't been to the restaurant often enough.)
Anh then handed over a jar of vegemite to help create one for her. (Oz's favourtie spread.)
He spoke with a lady, Jeanette, who works with CP Mary's Foundation on her anti-bullying work in Denmark's schools.
We saw some of the things being done with little children being taught to give each other massages while breathing in a certain way, to help develop empathy
Anh demonstrated the Danish invented airbag cycle helmet, and rode about Copenhagen with "Borgen" actress Birgitte Sorensen.
They read a bit of Hans Christian Andersen's "Ugly Duckling" together and we saw some paper-cutting demonstrated. (Something HC Andersen did also.)
Birgitte explained about Denmark's high taxation, and how though no-one can help everyone, everyone can help some-one, and that is something Danes value.
Cheers, Sun Lion.

Thanks, Sun Lion.
Yes, the Davidson family are close to Joachim and our Marie in particular.
The massage thing - is that something we've learned from you Aussie's anti-bullying programme as well? Or is it a local developement?
BB informs us that when Frederik returned home from Sochi last Sunday, he shortly after went for a stroll with his children. Around noon Frederik was observed emerging from Amalienborg with Josephine in a stroller and Vincent walking next to dad. Bella and Christian formed the vanguard each on a scooter. (*) Mingling with many other Copenhageners they walked along the water front.
No pictures.
(*) Is a thingy like this really called a scooter in English? http://www.mm-konsol.dk/productimage...behjul-3-0.jpg
In DK a scooter is such a thing: http://image.made-in-china.com/4f0j0...50T-3A-VI-.jpg I.e. a big moped. A (small) moped like this: http://www.puchklub.dk/cm-webpic/Eft...nallert-01.jpg complete with an "organised" box on the rear, is called a "knallert = a cracker" in Danish from the sound a "loser-bike" like this makes. And thus ends this Danish lesson.

Yes it is - scooters are mainly used as children's toys here in the UK, but adults can also use them. Micro Scooters have made a special scooter which has been adapted for adults. I used to own a scooter similar to that one as a child, but in purple. We would call the second vehicle a moterbike, and the third one a bicycle/bike. It's interesting to see how words differ in other languages.

Thank you, HereditaryPrincess & Tundra
Yes, it is really interesting. In DK such a scooter, for adults as well as children, is called a "løbehjul = running-wheel".
They've been using them in hospitals and such places, since at least the early 70's.

You're welcome Muhler, and thanks for the extra information about scooters. AFAIK they've been around over here since the 50s/60s and possibly longer (I don't know, I wasn't around then!), my aunt said that she fell off one when she was a child.

Sorry Muhler,
I don't know any little Aussie ankle-biters to ask about this, so maybe it's from the original anti-bullying program - or maybe Denmark has added it.
Best Wishes, Sun Lion.

Thanks Roskilde for contacting BB and having the information confirmed.
This is really great, we can expect to see some wonderful photos of the family. Yes, I wonder if the children will be given national costumes that would be so lovely to see the whole family in the national costumes. I look forward to this summer tour.

 Indeed it has.
However, since the programme of the trip is still in the planning phase, very little is known and it's unlikely the whole programme will be published until July.
Also in Greenland you are really dependant on wind and weather and you need to have a back-up plan ready.
What is known is that they will visit the town of Uummannaaq and perhaps the town of Ilulissat.
M&F and family will fly to Greenland to rendezvous with Dannebrog and her escort ship.
So basically the whole article is one big perhaps, possibly and presumably.
Frederik and Joachim visited Greenland for the first time in 1982.
The visit will last for two weeks in the beginning of August, that is just prior to schools starting in August.
It is almost certain that a dogsleigh ride is on the schedule. That will be a first for all four children.
It is also practically certain that M&F and their children will take a couple of days for themselves. Perhaps they'll go trekking in the low mountains near the coast.
Apart from that, we can expect the visit to be like any other official visit to Greenland by the DRF. It's basically a normal summercruise, just in Greenlandic waters and surrounded by ice.
Another certainty is that we will see M&F in Greenlandic national costumes. I know Christian was presented with such a costume a year or two ago.
I will expect Bella to also be presented with her own costume. But costumes for girls are expensive and labour intensive, more so than for women, because girls grow.
Whether the twins Minik and Ivalo will also wear national costumes is more doubtful I think.
As the twins have had a foundation named after themselves, the Ivalo and Minik Foundation, I think we can expect something involving that as well.
- I will suggest you visit the Joachim and our Marie thread. They visited Greenland a couple of years ago with Nikolai and Felix and what they did, may be a good indication of what M&F will do with their children.
It's the BB journalist Ulrik Hemmingway... sorry, Ulrik Ulriksen, who wrote the article and his style is famous or infamous for being somewhat flowery and I cannot resist giving you this sample: ".... shortly before the CP couple get on an airplane and soar towards Greenland - perhaps on a little pink cloud of dreams of great expectations". - Yeees, I shall resist any temptation to comment.

Hello all,
Re: scooters. I first is called a scooter here. There are also more sturdy old fashioned ones. The second is also called a scooter but the third is sometimes called a moped. Aghh language!
Very exciting about the Greenland summer cruise with the children. Very much looking forward to following it's progress.
Well done Roskilde for contacting BB!

IIRC then "The three little Princesses" (QMII, PssB and QA-M) was presented with greenlandic costumes when they were about the age that Pss Isabella has now. Pss B and QA-M a little bit younger. Perhaps Pss Isabella will wear the costume of Pss Benedikte and Pss Josephine the one of QA-M
EDIT: Found a photo: http://copenhagenet.dk/Images/Amalb-Fred-9.jpg
And now I see that the costume of QA-M will fit Pss Isabella best, so perhaps a new one will be made for Pss Josephine :)
More Edit: A page containing the DRF (1952) in greenlandic costumes: http://glucksburg.blogspot.dk/2013/1...ederik-ix.html

You are right, FasterB.
Just a little refitting needed. So we can expect to see the whole family in national costumes.
However, I think the Greenlanders will be most pleased with presenting Bella and her sister Minik with their own suits.
And as children tend to grow (it would be so much easier and cheaper if they grew 15 cm only on Midsummers Day every three years) I think it will be in the very last minute they will be presented with their costumes.
Thanks, LadyRosie.
