It is just incredible to see this site with all the photos, not only the history and who used it before but how the same piece it is use by different members of the family today!
just wonder how they do it? where are the jewelry? you see one piece use it by Maxima, Beatriz and may be one of their cousins, who take it in and out the jewelry to them and how they decide which one to use? I guess the family has a catalogue? it is just an amazing to use all this jewelry
with so much history!

Yes, it's a great site, but only one problem...

There should be a warning over there stating....

Please be aware if you love jewels and Royal History, ensure you are comfortable and have water and snacks nearby, as you will be kissing the rest of your Day Good Bye!!

:D

I literally spent an entire afternoon and better part of an evening once going through that thing once. Maxima sure has an awful lot of pretty "toys" to play w/, doesn't she? :D

I have seen the drops worn but never the top part. Im so glad she enjoys digging around in the trunk for something different!!!

Queen Máxima keeps adding to her jewelry collection. Today (May 6th) she escorted the King to a visit in the East of the Netherlands and was spotted with new diamond-and-pearls earhangers.

Oh, be still, my heart. Those earrings are a hazard since they're causing heart palpitations and are in danger of stopping that very necessary organ!

On the modekoninginmaxima.nl blog they spotted new jewels again.... The amount of jewels at Queen Máxima's disposal is beyond belief. Today the Queen wore earrings, a brooch and a three strand bracelet with rose quartz gemstones, so to see set in gold. It was apparently a set which once belonged to Queen Juliana (1909-2004), the King's maternal grandmother.

Maxi wore this set alot about 3 or 4 years ago. She is so fun to follow with her jewels. I love it. Especially over the big chunky things she likes. The real jewels are better....right?

I never knew that these belonged to Juliana and thought they were a new acquisition. A(nother) nice surprise!

Post pix please....Maxi has on th Dutch rubies!!!!

Say, Maxima, what does a girl have to do to be invited to your palace to play dress-up?
That being said, although I love to drool over rubies, I think I prefer Mary's or Camilla's. Or Queen Elizabeth's.

She wears them well! Didn't realize the necklace has a ruby clasp.

I love her so much. She needs to teach a course to anyone who marries into a royal family on how to have fun with the family vaults.

The Mellerio Parure was almost completely worn, Queen Máxima left the two brooches, the stunning corsage-de-devant with waterfall diamonds and also the diamond-and-rubies encrusted fan in the cassette.

On this picture you see Queen Juliana wearing the corsage-de-devant and one of the two brooches: http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/bernogreat/Afbeelding104.jpg

On this picture you see the fan which is part of the parure:

Those jewels are just formidable and the presentation simply smashing! Max should teach the Art of Wearing Royal Jewels 101 and its accompanying course, How to Raid the Royal Jewel Vaults.

Not really a fan of the tiara but the rest of the jewels are stunning.

Thanks for the close-ups! Wow!
Like I said, what does a girl have to do to try those on?

The accent diamonds used in this suite are crazy. Look how big the diamonds are in the swag of the tiara. They are each an engagement ring!!!

And in the necklace, and in the bracelets, and in the two brooches (not worn yesterday), and in the devant-de-corsage (not worn yesterday), and the diamond-and-rubies encrusted fan (not used yesterday), all of these with serious sized diamonds. Just in this one parure.

But also other suites, think at Máxima's massive investure diadem, the big gunners on her Bandeau of rose-cut-diamonds, not to mention the Stuart Parure. I think the Orange-Nassaus have serious carat power indeed. Even a "minor" diadem in the collection as the one worn by Princess Mabel, when you look at the diamonds alone, even this one has serious carat power.

Thanks for the close-ups Humera. And interesting to see the frame in such detail.

It is a difficult tiara to wear due to the suspention-bridge effect. But HM really makes the most of it & it looks wonderful on her. Maybe the tiara would look better without the two outer ruby prongs, it reminds me a bit of the horns of a valkyrie. The amount of carats in this tiara & necklace must be amazing indeed. It was one of Q. Juliana's favourites and I hope that like Juliana Queen Máxima will treat us on the entire parure one day, she is certainly able to pull it of.

That is a good idea, the entire parure, preferrably for a state portrait of the Queen: a simple gown with the riband of her Order and then the full parure: the diadem, the dangling earhangers, the necklace, the two brooches (a bigger one in front and a smaller one usually to fix the riband at the back), the devant-de-corsage, the two bracelets and.... Her Majesty holding the diamond-and-rubies encrusted fan...

There is only one brooch in the parure, Henri ;)

You know what they say, diamonds are girls best friend.;)

The tiara does have a horn effect which is why I've never particularly warmed to it but Maxima has a way of wearing her jewels, her personality seems to take over whatever she wears so I like it on her.

I played a little with photoshop and removed the outer diamond/ruby cluster. Although I'm not sure if it's possible in real life, they seem to be part of the large scroll motif.
