Isn't that necklace, the 5-strand diamond extravaganza, the Greville Collier necklace?

Wow! That's one impressive necklace. Camila is able to pull off this type of jewelry very, very well.

On the contrary, Camilla has a bosom just made for supporting substantial jewellery, not to mention her hair do that can anchor the bigger tiaras in the British collection with aplomb.

The sapphire necklace in the picture were, like the emerald and ruby ones, from the Saudi visit.

The magnificent diamond 5 row necklace, it is indeed the Greville necklace. It consists of two necklaces of two and three rows respectively that can be worn together and separately. Though usually wearing only one (3 row) necklace, the Queen Mother wore the full 5 row version, among other events, during Frederik IX an Ingrid of Denmark's state visit to Britain in 1951.

The Greville jewels came to the possession of the British Royal Family after the death of Mrs. Greville who left her entire impressive jewellery collection to Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother). Although the Royal Family was initially very hesitant to accept such generous bequest from a subject, the Queen wore the Greville Tiara for the first time in 1947. The tiara, later known as the Boucheron Tiara, became a particular favourite of the Queen Mother who asked Cartier to make some adjustments according to her taste; initially, the original Greville Tiara had strict geometric line but Cartier added diamonds on the top, breaking the line. The Greville-Boucheron tiara is now worn by the Duchess of Cornwall.

I have never been a big fan of the Boucheron. I always thought it was a little too OTT for no good reason. Am I the only one that thinks it was more aesthetically pleasing in it's original incarnation and would love to see it return to that state. I think Camilla would look dynamite with a restored mighty Bouche and the 3-stringed diamond necklace. Image Upper.com - Free Image Hosting - View Image

I agree, it would be very nice to see Camilla bring out the 3 string Greville necklace again, paired with the Boucheron tiara.

Would that be the titivated Bouche or the stunning classic original?

The classic one, as worn by QEQM and the Duchess of Cornwall.

Yes, I'd love to see the mighty Bouche paired with Camilla's mighty hair again!

No, but one day the suite will most likely be broken down, reconstructed and made into more manageable pieces.
There are a lot of diamonds and rubies to play with, and there are probably earrings and a bracelet to match (so far unseen).

That is a massive and sumptuous necklace. I envision earrings, pendants, brooches and bracelets made from that necklace. I'd like to see those hanging strands removed from the collar segment and just have that as a necklace alone, perhaps with a loop to add a pendant for versatility.

Are those cabochon or faceted rubies, BTW?

The ruby necklace is very tacky and OTT in my opinion. It probably will eventually be broken up and redesigned for other pieces in the future (which all the members of the royal family have done in the past).

The sapphire and emerald necklaces are more understated and appropriate.

I'm sure it will be reconstituted, but it has to be worn a few times publicly as is so as not to offend the giver of the gift.

Same can be said of this necklace HM wore for the state visit from Qatar, an earlier gift from her hosts:

Queen Elizabeth II Pictures - Qatar State Visit To the UK - Zimbio

Lots of nice pearls and diamonds going on here; just horrible in its current form.

Agreed; I like the diamond separators among the pearls but that huge clasp can serve as a brooch on its own. And it looks awkward with the space between the top two strands and the remaining four. You can get several nice necklaces from that piece.

I'd like to see it fitted to a frame and worn as a tiara by the Duchess before anything should be decided. It would be a real sight I'd imagine.

That would be an extremely huge tiara in its current form. Too bad it couldn't be photoshopped to get an idea of how it would look; maybe something like the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg's huge tiara:

I think you could get a tiara and a necklace out of it in it's current form.

The circular base could remain as as is and the 'prongs' could be added to a frame.
