You know its a somewhat off day when Mabel is wearing an "normal" outfit and Maxima is slightly off. Love the coat and not the dress. Laurentien...there are no words. Aimee, Annette, Margriet, and the Queen looks great. Not sure about Marlene.
Thanks everyone for the pics. I woke up today and was like..yeah..its Queen's Day!

Thank you everybody for all the wonderful pictures of Queen's Day today! :) Us Dutch royal family fans are being spoiled this week -- first the Luxembourg visit, then Willem and Maxima with their daughters out and about, Pieter van Vollenhoven's special day yesterday, Queensday and next, the Swedish King's 60th birthday.
It's too bad that the day started off rainy, but at least some sun made it's way through.
I agree with those members who have said that Maxima's outfit was nicer when the jacket stayed on. And I really like Mabel's outfit; she looked very elegant and very feminine, though I probalby could've done with out the big flower.
Too bad Anita couldn't make it, but I bet she saw it on TV! Annette looked radiant in her floral green outfit -- with green shoes to match!, though I didn't care much for Marilene's layered outfit.
This is a great picture of the van Vollenhoven men -- what a handsome picture!
I think the pictures of Laurentien, Maxima and Willem riding the segways were so much fun!

The cake will be just hanging above your mouth and you get something before your eyes (like a piece of cloth or something like that) so you can't see what you're doing. All you have to do is trying to eat the cake and well, that's hilarious. So, that's what Maurits and Maxima are doing, but as a virtual computer game, this time.
Just search on google for 'koekhappen' to get an idea of what the real thing is like... :)

You can see it in this Queensday post from 2003, Constantijn, Pieter-Christiaan and Maxima are doing it.

So, I just catched up with looking at all the pictures which were so wonderfully provided by you all (as usal). :) It's great to see them, and to be honest: I get a much better view of the outfits than I got on tv this morning.
Loved the Queen, loved Margriet (though not to keen on the skirt)!
Maxima: hairdo: fantastic, head piece: fantastic, coat: fantastic, what was underneath the coat: ugh, didn't like it. Too messy for my taste.
Laurentien: As usual: clown of the ball. She really looked interesting, let's keep it to that. And she must have been so cold (as she confirmed in the eight o'clock news...)!
Mabel: Looked absolutely wonderful. I have a great dislike for this lady, but the coat looked really well and the silver rose brooche was a wonderful detail (and was designed by Viktor & Rolf, as was told in the tv programm 'Blauw Bloed' this evening. Should be no surprise of course).
Marilene: Didn't like the outfit. Too messy with all the ruffles and stuff. Color was a bit dull too. And those boots. OMG! But I guess she has been the only one who was a bit comfy on the muddy field (who invented the idea to let the Royal Family walk on a muddy field, anyway? I think it's ridiculous, but oh well, that's just my opinion!)
Annette: Lovely white and green outfit, but what earrings! Didn't like them one bit.
Aimee: The best dressed lady of the day, imo. Beatiful coat and great combination of gloves and shoes! This girl definitely is one of my favourites!
And the men? Oh well, just participating in all the silly games, as usual. It's always great to see them climbing, running and stuff! :)

I dont know all of the Dutch royals that well. Laurentien was well Laurentien. She has her own style but she is a great person. Maximas hair and headpiece was beautiful but she should have left the jacket on. Mabel looks pretty good and no bows what a shock. I want to know who the gorgeous lady in pink w/purple shoes and the pretty lady in green. Ive seen them before but dont know them to well.

In the fuschia jacket with the purple shoes is Prince Floris', youngest son of Princess Margriet, wife, Princess Aimee. And in the green was another of Princess Margriet's daughter-in-laws, Princess Annette, wife of her second son, Prince Bernhard Jr.

I loved the dancing and the head bopping and the enthusiasm from everyone, from the Queen right through to the van Vollenhoven wives.
One part of the video was really touching: When one of the little girls couldn't play her violin and the queen touched her arm and tried to console her but she kept crying.
In the archival clips of previous Queen's Days, there was one scene that made me laugh: A man in the crowd tried to kiss the Queen (maybe she was a princess then) and she let him kiss her on both cheeks even though her advisors were pulling her way. As she walked away, the Queen was beaming and laughing. What a great Queen!

How lucky you Dutch people are to have such a great Queen. I love Elizabeth II dearly but Beatrix - well, she's something else.

IMO Maxima usually ruins a perfectly good outfit with her choices of hats (Alexia's christening, anyone? ) But IMO this outfit and the hat are both terrible! (It was okay when her coat was on) Her winning smile is what saved her today. :) But she did look radiant at King Carl Gustaf's birthday bash so I've got no more complaints. It's nice to see Princess Aimee again!
Queen Beatrix seemed so happy. :) Happy Queen Day Your Majesty!

Thank you to everyone for the WONDERFUL pictures!! :)
The family looks like they had a wonderful day, full of fun, and it shows in the pictures
I agree, Maxima's outfit was better with the jacket on, and I did not like Marilene's oufit at all! Laurentien, well, was very Laurentien. Mabel looked beautiful (no bows!!), as did Aimee and Annette. And I can't forget to mention the great Beatrix, you Dutch people are blessed to have her as Queen!
Once again, thanks for the pictures and
Happy Koninginnedag to all the Dutch members of the forum and to the whole of the Netherlands!!
