What lovely photos! It looks like all the royals are enjoying the trip and they are getting a good turnout of crowds. Mette-Marit's hat looks good.

Larzen, on the picture with the Crown Jewels, is there a history to them? I don't know what the caption says but I want to know if the Crown and the other items were gifts from Britain and Denmark or if they were items the King of Sweden had to return to Norway when they became independent?

I'm not Larzen, but I hope I can shed some light.
The King's Crown & regalia was bought by King Karl Johan for his coronation in 1818, as the original Norwegian crowns had been donated to the church in Nidaros (my note: as they had been donated prior to the reformation, it's anybody's guess where they are today, or if they exist.). The constitution of 1814, demanded that the King were to be coronated in Nidarosdomen. NRK claims that the Sword of the Realm was carried by Karl Johan during the battle of Leipzig.
The Queen's crown & regalia, I imagine, came forth in much the same manner, only they were made in Stockholm in 1830.
The Heir Apparent's Crown is the only one which has been made in Norway. It was made by goldsmith Herman Colbjørnsen Øyset in Christiania (Oslo) in 1846, and has never been used.
In conclusion - all of the items were procured by the King of Sweden and Norway, to be used at Norwegian coronations. They therefore remained with Norway after the union was dissolved. (unlike most of the furniture at the Palace, which was transported back to Sweden.)

I'm curious! They have all this beautiful regalia and don't have any coronations anymore. Now it is the oath and a statement I beleive. Why was the coronation and all the trappings done away with? It seems it would be more relevant to celebrate 100 years of monarchy if the regalia was used once in a while. What do you think?
Thanks,
Linda 85

Thanks for the translation, Norweigeanne, or the explanation on the Crown Jewels. I guess the first new king had to get brand new furniture if it all was shipped to Sweden.
