Luxembourg State Visit to Sweden: April 15-17, 2008

MT was the only one tonight who wore a Tiara. The rest of the Ladies sadly didn't.
Does anyone get that? It seems to be a new virus in Royal circles... some attend with Tiaras and some don't. It starts scaring me. ;) First the Dutch Royals did that, then the Belgians... now the Swedish...

It was the same at the State Visit to Denmark in 2003. At the return event Maria Teresa was the only who wore a tiara, the diamond and pearl one.

That's right. But I like her tiara very much. MT look simply great tonight.

Swedish three... I don't know. I waite for better/larger photos.

Well they don't surprised me at all.
Madeleine should wore some necklace. Hair are good. Once again she should take shoulder straps.
Victoria has some stones on her dress. She should do something with her hair.
Silvia ... I don't know.

Could it have something to do with that noone wears orders? I don´t think that i have ever seen a member of the Swedish Royal Family wearing a tiara without wearing an order. Maybe the Swedish and the Luxembourg familys have different standards when it comes to "rules" when to wear a tiara or not? Does anyone know if i´m right?

Sad that the Swedish didn´t wear full gala tonight, but it is the host (in this case the Ducal family) that sets the dress code for the return dinner right?

I wish that I was privvy to the protocol.

I don't know. Today the dresscode was black tie, which means no Orders and usually also no tiaras. But sometimes also tiaras are worn at black tie events for example also at the 60. and 70. birthdays of Prince Henrik.
Yesterday the dresscode was white tie which means Orders and tiaras.
But it is strange that the swedish royals ladies wear no tiaras when the could.:ermm: Normally the do always if there is a possibility to wear tiaras.

It doesn't appear that MT is wearing a tiara in the group photo.

Thats what I was going to say. Its like she didn't know that it wasn't a tiara event till she saw the other ladies and then took it off. Its a beautiful tiara though!

Would she really do that do you think - take it off straight away? The Empress of Japan wore a tiara at a dinner earlier this year when noone from the Swedish RF did...

But today she and her husband where the hosts, so she should know the dresscode.

Tonights selection of dresses so far have been my favorite. Victoria and Madeleine look very pretty. Carl-Philip is such a hotty:wub:. MT and Henri look wonderful!

Marie Terese looks great tonight --- Empire-waist gown -- that's the best style for her, it makes her look slimmer and taller.
The Swedish royal women look so casual --- almost like they didn't even try to make an effort.
There must have been a breakdown in royal protocol communications as to whether or not tiaras were to be worn. It does look like MT removed hers once she was indoors.
Somebody's head will roll for this one ---

I'm a bit confused why Princess Madeleine wore a fur jacket but Crown Princess Victoria didn't even have one (either a shawl or a jacket). Was it cold this evening?

I've seen Princess Victoria's gown before but are Princess Madeleine's and Queen Silvia's gown new?

Hope someone can provide some info.

Thanks,

Ayvee

Maria Theresa's gown was beyond lovely! Much better than the white I think. I was wondering the same about the tiaras?!

It was something between +5 and +10 degrees (C), so it wasn't that cold.
Yesterday was a sunny springday in Stockholm.

Quite the same climate than in Austria.

I don't think I have ever seen Swedish Royal ladies wearing tiara for a black-tie event. On those occasions the tiaras stay in the vault (in Sweden at least). Women don't even have to wear full skirts, so it is a less grand dressing code than white-tie. It was strange that the Grand Duchess still wore a tiara...

I think that there was a simular 'mistake' in Denmark, when the GDss was wearting a tiara at the second gala while the Danish royals were not. It is a pity that she removed hers though, it looks lovely, though the two rivieres around the neck didn't hurt either.

IMO Victoria was recycling the prettiest gala dress she has and it is nice to see her hair with a wave this time. IMO the grand duchess looked esp. lovely too, though I do not agree that the she is chubby or anything, just a figure like most women of her age.

Thanks Franz! See, now I'm wondering why Princess Madeleine wore the fur. Oh well, perhaps she was cold while Princess Victoria wasn't.

Thanks ursulajohanna for your info about the gowns. Princess Madeleine's gown looks so much like the one she wore at a Nobel gala - at least in terms of the color and the ruching of the gown. But after seeing it without the fur, I have to agree that it's new.

Victoria's hair was gorgeous, though that evening dress isn't the best, but each to their own.

As for Maria Theresa, she is somewhat a curvaceous woman and does carry a few extra pounds. But as you stated, a woman her age is normally bound to fill out and it does her no injustice.

Didn't Princess Madeleine wear that gown to a wedding, I believe she was a bridesmaide.
