Yes, I was already counting on seeing President Macron's signature morning suit. A proper evening tailcoat was indeed an unexpected surprise.

He is wearing the Grand Officier insignia of the Legion of Honour. Maybe when Victoria will become Queen, there's will be an upgrade.

Does that grade come with a necklace insignia only? Or a star? Or a star with a necklace insignia? The photos are not very good and I did not see them closely, but it appeared to me that Daniel was wearing his own Swedish order of the Polar Star on the necklet.

EDIT: I saw a better picture now. It looks like a badge hanging from a chest ribbon only. But he also has an additional star on the right side of the torso.

As usual, I don´t get your points.... What´s wrong with the Queen´s dress? She looks exactly a Queen should look like at a state banquet!
And why, for heaven´s sake, should "the Värmlands" fade quietly in the background? They are part of "the firm" and, as working Royals, have a duty for Sweden to fulfill! What do you expect these still relatively young people to do with the swedish taxpayer´s money...? Playing golf and growing roses?! You could well and truely ask then, why Pcss Christina, an 80 year old lady, still performs a public role...! A monarchy, and even more so when the King and Queen are very aged, urgently needs some "front players" which keep the whole business running! Only a CP couple is not enough. Monarchy needs to be seen and to be present, and not just in the capital, but the whole country, to be relatable! To do that, you need sufficient "staff". I think how things have been decided in Norway, and even more so with a chronically ill future Queen, was ill advised.

The insignia of Grand-Officer is a badge worn on left breast suspended from a red ribbon, plus a breast star… Commandeaur wears a ribbon necklet with a suspended badge.

Prince Daniel is for some reason not placed as equal to the Crown Princess in the swedish court protocol but as equal to Prince Carl Philip… I have no idea why and i also don’t like it - but it is what it is

Probably because unlike the wife of a Crown Prince he doesn't share his wife's title and is no Crown Prince but a mere Prince.

I would also prefer it if he would be seen as equal to his wife.

I think so as well. She’s the Crown Princess. He’s just a Swedish Prince, of course created in his own right. But nothing more than Prince Carl Philip is as son of the Monarch. The same for Sofia, a simple princess.

Anyway I’m not impressed by Macron terrible cut. How could an expert tailor get away with it? Mrs. Macron looks lovely and chic as usual.

Not impressed by any jewels or dress in the SRF. Very meh.

I share the thoughts about Mr. Macron's cut. His wife looks splendid, she always gets it right and represents the French elegance perfectly.
The Queen and Victoria look great, not liking Sofia's dress, the colour is very bland and the style not up to the occasion.

The second day has started.
Victoria and Daniel arrived to the business seminar - Accelerating Europe's competitiveness - in Stockholm City Hall arranged by Business Sweden. Glad to see that Daniel attends too, although the Royal Court claims at their article that only Victoria attends.

Expressen tells that President and mrs Macron stayed at the Bank Hotel in Stockholm at their visit.
The presidential couple has subscribed to the entire hotel and the breakfast, normally open to the public, is closed. The secrecy is great, so that the couple can have as private a stay as possible.
On Wednesday morning, the street outside the hotel was blocked off while police officers with automatic weapons guarded the entrance and police cars circulated in the area. A black Audi with French flags was parked outside the hotel. At 11.00, the president was seen leaving the hotel. Macron got into the waiting car, which was escorted by several cars with bodyguards.

In the royal family titles, precedence, and orders are all ultimately the prerogative of the King, so regardless of which decision was the basis for the others (if that was the case), it was the King's own decision to treat his son-in-law Daniel as being of lesser rank than his counterparts Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway or until recently Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.

If I'm not mistaken, Princess Christina's treatment is not quite comparable as she is not given the same honors and precedence as the consort of the heir to the throne, unlike Prince Carl Philip.

I am not Swedish and I don't see how Carl Philip and Christina and their spouses need to be at the state dinner. To me, the whole idea of "royal family" has died and it's just a monarchy with hereditary "presidential" couples.
 
I was wondering why Daniel, CP and Sofia wore the Order of the Elephant. Shouldn’t they have only worn the Legion of Honour? I see the insignia is rather small, but in the end, that’s the insignia they have of the country they are hosting.
Thoughts on this? I can be easily mistaken! I’m not 100% pro of orders.

I don't think that its anything to do with being Swedish.
They've always attended State Banquets ,Carl Philip is the monarchs only son and Christina is the monarchs sister.
Its not uncommon to see members of the RF attend State Galas in most monarchies.

They are indeed wearing two orders. Victoria, Daniel, Carl Philip and Sofia 'only' were made Grand Officers and not Grand Cross. So, they are wearing their highest Grand Cross: The National Order of Merit for Victoria and the Order of the Elephant for the others; as well as the French order they received: Grand Officer of Order of the Legion of Honour.

You may notice that Christina is also wearing the Order of the Legion of Honor. However, she apparently was made a Commander (one step below Grand Officer) - also worn with her Swedish Grand Cross: the Order of the Elephant (not sure what is happening with that necklace).

You mean the Order of the Seraphim, they are in Sweden - not Denmark. And Princess Christina is also having her H.M. The King's Medal 12th size with diamonds in chain.

I rather think that dignitaries from non monarchy countries enjoy the glamour and the status of associating with royals.

I agree…. As Tony Blair once said, the visiting foreign guests loves that they are recived by the royal family, and they enjoy to be entertained by the royal family in the royal palaces - something that i can never give them at 10 Downing Street….. So why not ?

French journalist Alexandre Peyrout thinks Macron came to Sweden because his policy is directed beyond Europe. It is very important for him to present the image of a European head of state, a European leader and, as it were, to be the first and best European leader. And that there were two symbols for the visit to Lund. Anne L'Huillier (2023 Nobel laureate in physics) is French and works in Lund. And the second reason was the visit to ESS, European Spallation Source. Macron is trying to create the image of a futuristic president who faces the future and is a friend of technology.
Peyrout says that all the French media was focused on the farmers' protests, there were only a few french journalists to cover the visit. He did a live report (on 30 January) and the only question the host asked him was if Macron in Sweden is concerned about the farmers blocking the roads in France.
