Seems a bit surreal with all the hysteria around ...

The Duchess looks relaxed and beautiful!

The bells at Westminster Abbey ring out in celebration of the Duchess of Cambridge's 38th birthday.

An so the institution goes on ....
To paraphrase a famous TV series : the Crown always win ...

Members of the royal family have gathered at Kensington Palace to celebrate the Duchess of Cambridge's 38th birthday amid Duke & Duchess Meghan's bombshell announcement last night

It's hardly a gathering, just Kate and Eugenie coming home ...

More likely, Kate returning after the school run and Eugenie leaving for work in the morning.

It's being reported that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are heading to Ireland for a two day visit in March 2020.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are expected to visit Ireland in March, with preparations being but in place for a trip to Dublin.
Sources told Independent.ie talks between Irish officials and Buckingham Palace are ongoing. Cork is also likely to feature as part of the visit.
Officials here usually get advanced notice of Royal visits and itineraries prior to trips for security arrangements to be put in place. However, these are currently at an early stage, said a source who added the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will “certainly” visit Dublin during their stay.
Cork has been the focus of talks about a second Irish city to be taken in as part of the trip.

Hmmm, dangerous to talk about visits to Ireland ahead of time. Especially with the environment the way it is currently.

Yes I heard that earlier this evening,if it does go ahead it will be the 1st visit by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge following several very high profile visit from the Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip,The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall and most recently the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The Duke and Duchess will receive a warm Irish welcome as do all visiting dignitaries.

I wonder if this will interfere with shamrocks to the Irish Guards on St Patrick's Day?

Terrific article on Kate....I’ve never been a princess person, but I’ve always been partial to her. She’s such an asset to William and the monarchy, and when he becomes King, he’ll need her even more. I also am glad that he has been in “lockstep” with both his father and the Queen post-Megzit, both because I love seeing father and son working together and because William will one day be King, so he absolutely needs to be a significant figure as the Royals navigate this new world as it were.

This kind of reaction is certainly welcome after arguably the most testing period for the monarchy since Diana’s death. With two of the so-called ‘Fab Four’ poised to set up their own projects in North America, the focus for the Cambridges will not only be on putting duty first but in a non-partisan, but an extremely effective way.

As one observer noted: “It is a bit of a paradox, having such a naturally introverted person in such a high-profile position. I think that’s what people find endearing about the Duchess. She’s not a showy person. It’s a deeply British trait.”

And one which she certainly shares with Her Majesty who also has a quiet confidence and sense of reserve when interacting with the public.

That will be a welcome trip for everyone, I think. William and Kate are so good with the public, and I’m sure Australians could use the boost.

On a separate note, the Cambridge’s have a joint engagement with Charles and Camilla tomorrow..Apparently this is pretty rare; I wonder why that is? I love seeing them together

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will attend several engagements throughout the day - visiting hospitals, businesses, and charities.

The timings of the events are not being disclosed in advance but Charles and Camilla’s first visit will be to the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) at Stanford Hall near Loughborough where they will be joined by Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

The Royals will meet military personnel being treated and rehabilitated after suffering battlefield injuries.

They will also speak with medical staff who are caring for them.

With the concern about the coronavirus may have come to George and Charlotte's school with four kids self isolating ( well actually the parents) why haven't the Cambridges decide to stand down on their engagements until the results come back on those kids?

Nothing like watching your favorite team play on a Sunday. Good on him.

Because it would simply add panic to a situation that doesn't require it. It was also a spanish magazine, that apparently posted a translated version of a memo that went out to parents. Thomas' has not released any public statement to that affect.

:previous: I wonder if this is an early Easter basket or kids' birthday shopping as there are some royal birthdays for the Jr. Windsors coming up in the next few months? Just in time for the spring there's Louis, Charlotte and Archie.
Plus there's likely plenty birthday parties for her children's school friends. :flowers:

Happy Mother's Day from the Cambridge family!

I like the visual continuity of Charlotte and George having their arms around their parents necks from behind, just like the photo of young William having his arms around the neck of Diana from behind. Charlotte and George being a chip off the old block.

It's also nice that the Cambridges released another photo from their 2018 photo shoot.

Also George is a very talented 6 year old. I couldn't make a card like that until I was about 10.

Lastly, it's so nice to see a tribute to Carole. Often the royal accounts only celebrate the royal relatives (such as birthday posts) and ignore the non-royal relatives. So it's lovely to see a pic of Carole since we know she's such a large presence in her children and grandchildren's lives. On a superficial note, young Carole was gorgeous. She still is an attractive women, but in these old photos it really drives the point home.

Wonderful photos from the Cambridges a much welcome distraction.

These are lovely photos! The card from George adds a very warm personal touch particularly since we usually don't see much of the Cambridge children's private lives.

George is really talented........ his card is beautiful, though any card from a child is beautiful. That photo of he and Charlotte being piggybacked by their parents is sooo sweet.

Happy Mother's Day (Mothering Day?) to every mother out there!
