It's a shame that this speech hasn't received more attention. It's got a small article on an inside page of my newspaper this morning. It's such an important issue.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh had a number of engagements in Staffordshire today, March 5.

The programme included visits to The Right Stuff Amateur Boxing Club, to the Rising Brook Community Church and to the Staffordshire Police Headquarters:

Sophie is a very gifted speaker… It is apparent it comes natural to her and she knows how to make people listen…. She deserves much more recognition than she gets !

Not sure why she gave the speech at this occasion but it is still wonderful to get a better insight in how she views and values her husband. Hopefully, there will be a major party in June when they celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.

Isn't it because it's his 60th birthday tomorrow?

That's the reason she gives but why give a speech about your husband at a/this specific work engagement? This seems much more fit for a more private celebration.

So, I was wondering whether this specific organization has some special meaning to the two of them that would make it somewhat appropriate other than taking place a few days before his birrhday.

What a beautiful and touching tribute to her husband.

They do not get enough credit and attention for all their hardwork they are doing.
They are a true asset to the RF.

Such wonderful news. He was first made a Counsellor of Stated. Last year -also in connection with his birthday- he was made Duke of Edinburgh last year in connection with his birthday and now this honor (one that his sister received in 2000, his nephew in 2012 and his sister-in-law last year). Good to see him recognized in this way as one of the key players within the royal family!

What a surprise given how few of the royals who are Knights/Ladies of the Thistle - but a most welcome and much deserved surprise :)

A very happy 60:th birthday Sir

I must say, Big Bro Charles certainly knows how to give the birthday gifts! Wonder what he'll give Edward next year, lol.
