The Duke of Edinburgh really seems to be taking his Royal Duties quite well and people enjoy seeing him and having conversations which he is listening to seriously. (..)

Not to take the attention away from the Duchess' wonderful visit, which focus on remarkable causes; but goodness, she only gets more beautiful with age.

Sophie has always been a good sport without being un dignified at the same time. One of Fergie's biggest moans about being in the royal family was that she was expected to be buttoned up all the time. I don't think that was ever true it was just that she was waaayy over the top a lot of the time. Sophie knows how to be relaxed and have fun but she never goes mad and looks stupid.

The Duchess of Edinburgh was in Geneva, Switzerland, today, December 14, for the Global Refugee Forum:

She also met 9-year-old Hugo who "has Sanfilippo syndrome, a neurodegenerative disease which makes it unlikely for him to live past his teens", he had dreamed of meeting a member of the Royal Family:

The Edinburgh's are a prime example of the discretion , dignity , and warmth that the late QE11 personified .

Very true. Edward was always in the shadows of his siblings, who would have guessed how prominant a royal he and his wife would become.

Possibly in the shadows' because his older siblings , Charles, and Ann , and the Kent's , Gloucester's etc were already full time working royals . Indeed many still are.

HM is fortunate to have their backup , they serve without ego , after all it was their decision , with the agreement of her late majesty not to use HRH for any future offspring .

When Edward was young and single I think even the Queen would have been surprised at how important he and his future wife would become to the Monarchy. The Wales and Yorks were the superstars back in the day and Edward seemed pretty insignificant, it's funny how things turn out.

The Duke of Edinburgh attended the Sunday church service at Castle Rising Church in Norfolk today, January 14:

Weird press announcement on Twitter.

Appears that Edward is tomorrow in St Helena for a four-day tour.

And in South Africa for a 2 day tours. The SA presidency confirmed this one.

Have they cloned Edward? I suspect one is the Duke of Kent? Unsure ? If it is both that is one quick tour and visit.

but would the Duke of Kent go on such long travels?

St Helena is not all that far from South Africa so its possible he flies between the two in a day
22-23rd January - South Africa
23-26th January - St Helena

It is certainly more likely than the Duke of Kent doing such a long haul journey.

Nope - They are both Edward. It is just really fast and short trips. They are really not leaving any time for delays and rest. 22-23 Cape town and Pretoria then straight to St Helena for the 24th - 26. the dates are incorrect on the tweet from St Helena. Why go all the way to South Africa for essential 3 short engagements?

The tweet states that the duke LANDS on the 23rd. This could very well be (late) at night; with his events starting on the 24th.

I really wish there was a way they can improve Edward's visibility. The media in South Africa half the time incorrectly identify him - he seems to answer to every and any name - Philip, Charles, George, Albert.

The vice President sent his regards for his father's and sister in law's health.

But I think the worst - is the amount of South Africa's media asking about his involving regarding Epstein and such. You would think the media would know better but not anymore.
