Crown Princess Victoria Jewels 4: Jun 2023 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Thank you! There is something familiar about this but I cannot place it. I'm certain I've seen it in an old photo of one of the previous Queens. It's gorgeous, looks like opal to me, can't believe they've been keeping it stashed away.
That's interesting, I hope you'll find the photo.

The Court Jeweller blogger also thinks it's opal at the brooch.

Even More Glittering Royal Tiaras for the King’s Nobel Dinner in Sweden

I think it is Chalcedony stone with antique old miner cut diamonds around it

CP Victoria looks stunning in the B&W outfit and the Connaught tiara. The brooch reminds me of an opal I have. Q Sivia looks great in the Lechtenberg tiara and other sapphire jewels. Her dress is rather dull.

While looking around online trying to identify the brooch worn by the Crown Princess tonight I found it being worn by her grandmother Princess Sibylla for the wedding gala of the future Queen Ingrid and King Frederick of Denmark in 1935.

Nice discovery JR! And quite exiting to see it turning up after 88 years. Opal is indeed a likely possibility.

Lovely to see the Princess wearing the Connaught too btw.

Great find! And it's nice that Victoria wears nowadays jewellery which princess Sibylla had. Princess Sibylla didn't use this brooch very much though.

I would also like to see some day this brooch which princess Sibylla wore quite often

Thanks! Can you identify the gemstone? Is chalcedony or opal?

I asked a jeweler who said chalcedony. I can ask others that I am friendly with too for their opinion.

Victoria yesterday at the Swedish Academy's formal gathering at Börshuset. This time she and queen Silvia didn't wear any big or important jewellery.
Victoria had her diamond brooch she got from princess Lilian, her Engelbert Stockholm necklace, her lovely earrings and a bracelet.

The Cut Steel Tiara suits Victoria so well.

Lovely to see the newly-used brooch again. I wonder why it was not used for such a long time. The floral earrings are the most beautiful pair in the collection. The steel diademe is a very appropriate choice of course.

Sweden is one of the few royal houses that have tiaras that date back to the Napoleontic times. Most others were of a more recent date as these things were altered so often according to the taste of the day.

Agreed. Great to see the opal brooch again. It is a lovely brooch, with some very substantial diamonds.

I have no idea why the brooch had not been used for so long. The Swedes are not normally shy in using their jewellery.

The steel cut tiara is one of my least favourites and reminds me of a Carnival Tiara .
The brooch and earrings were far nicer.

Fortunately they do not. I wonder if this is owned by the CPss herself, as she is the only person who has been wearing it recently. Perhaps left to her by f.e. Pss Lilian?

It is indeed possible that it was left to Victoria by Lillian, but I do not think she was the source. It has been over a decade since Lillian's passing. The Boucheron tiara from Lillian has been used plenty of times by Victoria since. Also, this is not a brooch Lillian was ever pictured in herself.

At princess Lilian's will and estate inventory there wasn't anything like this brooch. And because princess Sibylla wore it, it can't have belonged to princess Lilian. Since princess Sibylla wore the brooch at the Danish wedding, I have been thinking, that maybe it was her wedding gift from the Danish Royal Family. And the Swedes have a lot of jewellery that they haven't used for a long time. Last year we saw Victoria wearing the bracelet of the Duchess of Albany which princess Sibylla had worn.
But I'm most happy that Victoria wore the Cut Steel Tiara yesterday. It is so beautiful and suits Victoria so well.

Today at the business seminar Victoria had her earrings and Engelbert Stockholm necklace and a necklace.

If the brooch was part of P. Sybilia's personal collection it could have belonged, or still belong, to one of CP Victoria's aunts.

Trond Norén Isaksen on his Instagram claims that the moonstone brooch worn by Crown Princess Victoria was not included on Princess Sibylla's inventory, it actually belonged to Queen Victoria, documents show that Victoria inherited the brooch from her mother Luise.
I have posted about this to Bernadotte Family Jewels thread previously:

This evening Victoria has in addition to the Laurel Wreath Tiara, flower earrings from the family collection, diamond necklace and her own bracelet. And the Collar of her Order looks great with this dress.

I love her whole look and the only improvement I could see is to wear a necklace with pendent which can fit into that neckline perfectly. Lilian's stomacher or the processional necklace would be overwhelming and fighting with the order's chain so the better option would be pendants of the Connaught, but Christina's wearing that tiara tonight so...as I said it already is a great look.:flowers:

I know the legendary hair god of Swedish court has retired but I hope the new one would try out new hairstyles with the Laurel tiara. I think it needs a backdrop of some sort to really shine, the hair needs to be teased up behind it so it looks more like it fits in the hairstyle instead of the hight arches sticking up and the tiara sort of disappearing in the air. Victoria's dark hair would provide a nice contrast to the tiara.

Victoria wearing Princess Lilian's tiara

Not necessarily something as dramatic as what Audrey Hepburn has here but something similar but slightly toned down

Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady

Maybe something along these lines

Audrey Hepburn updo

Princess Grace

I just feel the tiara is meant to be worn with some hair behind it.
