As I expected. If there were a planned outgoing state visit early in 2024. it would have been announced in the King's Speech.

Any state visits are likely to be on hold during the Kings treatment. Especially if his treatments might leave him immuno compromised.

Since the Prince of Wales is not a head of state, it can't be a "state visit", but rather only an "official visit".



I don't know the answer, but with the Princess of Wales unavailable until Easter at least and the Prince of Wales probably having to stay in the UK because of his father's treatment, I would imagine that all foreign trips must have been postponed in the near term.

The visit to Italy was meant to be an official visit, not a state vist. Only the King, as Head of State, can carry out a state visit.

Just a point for discussion. Whilst we hope the King is back doing public engagements soon, it may not be the case for some time. In such a case, I presume incoming state visits would proceed, led by the Prince of Wales and the Queen.

I don’t think any incoming state visits will be planned until Charles can do at least the welcoming ceremony, the state banquet with the speech, and the farewell ceremony… All the other engagements and the Guildhall Banquet are usually undertaken by other royals anyway…

The only situation i can see William co-host incoming state visits with The Queen would be if he is appointed Regent or Councellor at the same time…
