The Coronation: Guest Arrivals, Guest List, Rehearsal and Receptions, 5 May 2023

I don’t want to nurture comparisons, but I am a bit perplexed. Am I alone in thinking that C-A rarely looks refined? This loose messy hair adds no class to the whole. The same happened in Oslo. Elisabeth is again age-appropriate and impeccable. View attachment 303298

Have always loved how …. simply these two have taken their current roles as ex-monarchs. Particularly the queen who couldn’t look more….normal?

Tsar Simeon and Tsaritsa Margarita of Bulgaria

They fully comply with the dresscode set for the "reception".
That a Coronation is not even reason for a grand banquet in the Dorchester or a ballet gala in the Royal Opera House. Beyond imagination.

Any word on attendance from the Royal Houses of Portugal, Italy, Iran, Egypt, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Austria, Albania and/or Montenegro?

Personally I would love to see the Queen of Sikkim in public again, although it might be diplomatically interesting to see if India would react. Equally, the Royal Houses of Vietnam, Laos, Brazil, Ethiopia and Korea still very much exist and it would be fun to see them publicly in such a globally visible place.

Hope Cook is no longer the Queen of Sikkim. She was divorced from the king and has since remarried and divorced. She does not represent Sikkim and does not attempt to do so. She really isn't on anyone's radar.

As soon as i heard that it would be a ”Reception” and not a ”Banquet” or ”Gala Dinner” i got to 99 % that it would be no tiaras worn

After all, the only white tie ”Reception” in the BRF’s calender year is the December Diplomatic Reception…

But i’ll admit the remaining 1 % in me is still a bit dissapointed ?

I'm with you there. I've had low expectations for this coronation with all the talk about slimming down and all those cost living stuff, but I can't help to think "man, even William pre-wedding reception had more glams".

At this point, I won't be surprised if Catherine goes Victorian and shows up with flower wreath on her head tomorrow.

BTW, did Camilla attend the reception?

The thing beyond imagination is that you were moaning about the pump of the Coronation itself some days ago ...

How long is this reception on for?

A number of cars / minibuses have left BP in the last 10/15 mins or so which I think suggests it is breaking up about now if not done just yet.

“Black”? It’s literally green.

This is true, it is dark green, sorry, I was looking at it on the screen of my phone in the street, and the reflection of the sun has prevented me from seeing that it is dark green, the belt is black.

Love to see the (grand)parent/child combinations, especially to see the Belgian and Dutch delegations, but also very happy that P.Charlene is joining P.Albert, with the rough time she had healthwise (and she probably isn't sad that tiaras aren't worn, she never seemed a fan), and Mette-Marit as well feeling well enough to attend ❤️

The King has just left BP so seems the reception is over

Did I miss Queen Mathilde’s arrival or is she not attending today’s event?

And it sent Prince Philip to Hospital with a bladder infection, forcing him to miss the rest of the Jubilée…

If i were the host, with this weather prognosis for tomorrow, i would act quickly today to put up a tent, or at least a waterproof roof from the street to the door… It may not look very Aesthetically pleasing, but if it’s the only chance to prevent the vip guests from arriving soaking wet, i would take it

Heavy rain does not cause bladder infections!!

Indeed. More likely they stood for hours and it just helped to lower his immune system. Getting wet doesn’t lower your immune system either.

None of both has a chignon and both coiffures are nicely brushed. But as it is - in essence- nothing more than an indoors meet and greet, all is kept relatively simple.

The Princess of Orange wears a sparkling aquamarine in a diamond monture so to see. The Princess Beatrix wears one of her personal modern sapphire suites, so to see.

Unless the pink stone has been swapped for an aquamarine, it must be one of these kunzites the Princess wears as a pendant (picture). The picture gives a hint of blue but maybe that is a refraction or the lighting. Amalia: picture.

But cold weather and too little clothing can

If they are wearing uniforms and robes tomorrow, they can’t wear several layers of clothes inside of it

Kate’s dress is like a mix of everyone’s dresses - monochromatic blue, midi, long sleeves with puff shoulders, draping/gathering, belted, bling bling … lol
