The Queen, The Duchess of Cornwall and The Duchess of Cambridge on the main balcony.
 
Slightly surprised the wife of the German President wasn't alongside the Queen on the balcony but nevertheless lovely that the President was there and a poignant service as ever.

[-]IIRC the guest never stand alongside the Queen? Maxima didn't stand in the same balcony as the Queen a couple year ago too.[/-] edit: my wrong, forget that the Queen still placed the wreath by herself in 2015.

The Duke of Edinburgh had a wreath laid for him at the Cenotaph,he wasn't present.
 
I thought the Queen was still laying her wreath back when WA attended, didn't Maxima stand with Kate and Sophie? Anywho its not that important and I didn't mean to go off topic, still a lovely, poignant service no matter who stood where.

It was an honor that the First Lady of Germany was placed next to The Duchess of Sussex.
 
Sad that the Duke of Edinburgh was not well enough to stand alongside the Queen to watch the service as I recall he did last year. I am sure if he had felt well enough to attend, he would have done so.
 
This is the 1st Remembrance Sunday ceremony for the new Bishop of London,Dame Sarah Mullally.

Well I was under the impression the spouse of a Head of State was treated equal to the Queen or the position Philip would have taken. I suspect they wanted to go for the Queen and two future Queens together, we have seen them fit four people on the balcony before.

If I recall correctly Philip looked quite frail when he attended last year. Shame he couldn't be there but I am sure he will have undertaken his own act of remembrance wherever he is.
 
Is Sophie/Edward not in attendance?
 
Edward was with other royals laying a wreath so I assume Sophie was there. I imagine she was on the other balcony with Sir Tim and possibly Gloucesters? We didn't see them on tv coverage but a picture usually appears somewhere soon.

Yes they were. I watched the live coverage. Edward layed a wreath with Princess Anne, the Duke of Kent and Prince Michael of Kent. Sofie was standing beside Anne's husband on one of the balconies.

Nice to see the three Queen’s on the same balcony but was surprised that the German president’s wife wasn’t with her. Meghan looked good and appropriately solemn. Nice to see a photo of Sophie as I was thinking she wasn’t there as the BBC didn’t see it worth while to show us Tim and Sophie.

Nice to see all those people being able to walk past the cenotaph now. The whole thing was quite emotional.
 
The Fail strikes again even on a solemn occassion. It points out Meghan and Kate are not on the same balcony. I hardly call Meghan accompanying the first lady of Germany a come down.
 
I have one question of The Remembrance Day, I know poppy is because poppies In Flander Fields, but has the amount of poppies they have some meaning or is it just random? Other ladies have many poppies, Meghan one.

It has been suggested - a number of countries, a number of relatives lost, the number of branches of service with which you are associated, etc.

Unless someone mentions why they do it any particular way, we will never know.

It is enough to show ANY remembrance, IMO. It's not the size of the brooch, it is the act of wearing it that has importance.

Actually I got to this question because one of our tabloids have recently wrote some IMO very impolite articles of Meghan and today they are weeping why she is so serious with just one poppy.

Are they supposed to stick themselves all over with poppy and that’d be considered the most respectful or something? Talk about click bait.

I don’t think the number of poppies is anything other than personal preference for the look. If you look at the men, it’s only one poppy. Even those with extensive history with the military.

You are right. I do think it’s significant for Meghan to be placed with the German First Lady. However, most would expect the wife of the foreign head of state would be either placed with the Queen or Duchess of Cornwall. But I suppose this isn’t a state visit.

It’s was very significant that Meghan hosted the the First Lady of Germany on the balcony for the service.

It looks like that. Also Sophie of Wessex and prime minister Theresa May had only one poppy, but about that Iltasanomat tells nothing.
