I'm glad to see the Gloucesters out more. The Duchess has a very attractive down to earth quality. Her clothing is simple yet elegant.

TRH The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were down in our part of the world this week. They represented Her Majesty at the funeral of His (late) Majesty, King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV of Tonga which was held on Tuesday 19th September, 2006. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Their Royal Highnesses during the telecast by TVNZ.

Here is a pic of that, LOSSEAN:

King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV died on September 10, 2006 after a long illness. He was 88 and had been ruler of Tonga since the death of his mother in 1965. Crown Prince Tupouto'a has taken over the king's duties.

Thank you so much Iceflower. You are a godsend! I was hoping that someone would post a picture.
I wonder if they would do a detour to NZ to visit their daughter the Lady Davina Lewis.

Royal opens new Barnwell vocational centre

A BRAND new educational centre has been set up on a royal estate.

Prince William School, in Herne Road, Barnwell near Oundle, found that it did not have enough space on its site for some of its vocational courses.

The School is called Prince William School - I assume that it's named after the Duke's brother, hence his visit?

From the research I have done it was renamed after Prince William of Gloucester after his death as he had visited the school before his death and they wanted to honour him so they renamed the school.

Depends how old the school is. If it was renamed in the 1970s when schools went comprehensive, it's very possible it's named after him; if it's had that name for longer, it could be any Prince William (other than the present one, of course).

Thanks Chrissy. How sweet. And it must have been a nice gesture for Princess Alice too.

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester attended King Harald's 70th birthday celebrations in Norway. Pictures I found from the Danish Royal Watchers Website.

The Duke of Gloucester has been to South Africa at the beginning of this month:

Here are two pics: South African President Thabo Mbeki, left, is escorted by the Duke of Gloucester, right, after he was admitted to the rank of the Knight of the most venerable Order of St. John at St. George's Cathedral in Cape Town, South Africa, Thursday, May, 10, 2007. Mbeki was selected for his high honour points to the pivotal role he has played in transforming people's lives in South Africa and the African continent. (AP Photo/Obed Zilwa)
