Next Wednesday, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, along with the Prince and Princess of Asturias, are going to offer a lunch to the Mexican president, Vicente Fox, and his wife.

This is expected to be their last official act, before the Summer vacations.

please don't consider my post as a confirmation that the Princes of Asturias are coming to Manila. as far as i know, there are no new Instituto Cervantes centers that will be opened in the country anytime soon, because if there was one, the news should have come out ages ago.

in my post i was asking planetcher to confirm that bit of news but as of now no confirmation has been made. thanks!

The Kings and the Princes of Asturias offer a luncheon to the president of Mexico and his wife

The Kings, in company of the Princes of Asturias, offered today a luncheon in the Palace of The Zarzuela to the president of Mexico, Vicente Fox, and to his wife Marta.

Fox is in Spain from yesterday after being present on Sunday and Monday in Saint Petersburg at the meeting of the G-8, and has foreseen to return to Mexico this evening, after his meeting with the Kings and the Princes of Asturias.

Don Juan Carlos, dona Sofía and the Princes received to the couple Fox in the stairs of access to the residence of the Kings in The Zarzuela where, after posing for the photographers and television cameras, the luncheon was celebrated.

" Welcome to house, president ", of said the King to Vicente Fox, while they were fusing in an embrace. The couple Fox came to the Palace of The Zarzuela accompanied by their son Vicente and their daughter-in-law Paulina.

To it they have contributed decisively the numerous official visits of the Kings to Mexico, from the first one that they realized in November, 1978, after the reestablishment of diplomatic relations in March, 1977, after an interruption that it lasted almost 40 years.

Don Juan Carlos and dona Sofía returned to Mexico in 1990, one year later, to be present at the Latin-American Summit celebrated in Guadalajara, and in 1993, 1997 and 2002.

Invited by Vicente Fox, the Princes of Asturias they travelled to Mexico in July, 2004, a few weeks after their wedding.

It seems that the Mexican president and his wife have a very good relation to the SRF. I remember the other visits and always you have the impression they have a great time. Well, it's obvios looking at the pictures....

they seem to enjoy the compane of the fox's. as far as i remember felipe and letizia were having lunch with them while in mexico and they also came to spain in another ocassion, didn't they?

Yes, it is the last official meeting, though the Prince will see Fox in the close changes of government in latinoamérica and when he leaves the presidency.
It is normal that the relation is narrow, the relation between Spain and Latin America it is. The King gets together with the Latin-American Presidents every year, and when they accede to the cargo Spain is in the habit of being first one of the countries that they visit. The Prince gets together with many of the presidents in every change of government.
