the thing is she almost never uses any necklace! According to her own words: 'We Oranjes have no neck'. The only think she uses are some pearl necklaces (among them the big pearls of Princess Amalia) and a modest diamond riviere. But the big necklaces, the queen never wore.

This excellent site has most of the Orange-Nassau jewelry covered, definately worth a visit:

Yes, that's definitely a great one! At the moment I'm bust memorizing all the names of the tiara's and parures. ;) It's about time they show us some of those glittering jewels! :D

Beatrix and 2 of her Tiaras. :)
She should wear something bigger I think...

Agree, considered her big hairdo she shouldn't wear the tiara size in the second picture above. Mellerio rubi tiara http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/369984-post19.html, saphir tiara http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=4079&d=1049984436 and diamonds and pearls tiara http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2657&d=1049985191 look good on her favorite hairdo:).
When she "reduce" the shape of her hirdo this medium size of tiara looks good on her http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=5870&d=1052756843 but less on this one http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2656&d=1065377148

They have a different colour indeed. These last years she is wearing more and more black pearls, I assume she aquired them not to long ago.

So nice to see the Queen wearing her sapphire tiara during this visit! Finally one that is actually large enough to poke out over her hair! She looks wonderful wearing it.

And I love those earrings with the white/black pearls. Very unique!

The necklace

Does anyone know what necklace Beatrix is wearing here?
It seems to be quite beautiful!
Does it belong to a parure (or to the dutch jewels in general)? Or must it be a personal necklace of her?

The collier you asked about is one of the items from Queen Emma's elaborate Grand Parure of Diamonds and Sapphires. On this picture you see Princess Irene wearing the same necklace:

Princess Irene really was stunning in her younger years, she is still an attractive and elegant woman now IMO. thanks for the great pic Henri:flowers:

Beatrix does not seem to be very into necklaces does she, conosdering the collection she has to choose from? Especially the grander ones, not even when she was young, maybe because she does not have the longest and slimmest of necks:lol: She always wears the most beautiful brooches though, so they sort of compensate.

Thanks alot Henri M.!
Wow, it looks stunning! I also like it on Beatrix. I wonder why she didn't wear it more often. I never saw another picture of her wearing this collier..
Princess Irene looked stunning with it!
