Generation Pep and Stadium deliver activity bags for first-graders
4,000 activity bags for the country's first-graders
Several studies report that children today are moving too little. To inspire more people to a life of movement and to teach good habits at an early age, Stadium has since 2005 distributed activity bags for free to schools around the country. This year, just like last year, the bags are distributed in collaboration with Generation Pep.
The purpose of the activity bag is to inspire more activity in the school in addition to the scheduled sports hours. Many children engage in various sports activities in their spare time, but not all. By establishing good habits early in life, Stadium wants to offer a first step to an active and healthy lifestyle. The project is part of Stadium's Good Citizen work and since its inception in 2005, over 25,000 activity bags have been distributed. This year, just like last year, the bags are distributed in collaboration with Generation Pep.
- Getting the opportunity to hand out activity bags to schools around Sweden together with Stadium feels incredibly fun and important. I myself have had the opportunity to visit some schools in the early autumn and the joy and activity that is immediately apparent among the children when they get to use the things in the bag is really nice to see. We hope all schools that have a first class seize the opportunity and order an activity bag, says Carolina Klüft, Head of Operations for Generation Pep.
The contents of the bags have changed from year to year after feedback from the students and the ambition is that the content should always offer something for everyone. In 2019, the bags are colored with water-saving technology Solution Dye, two FairTrade-labeled footballs, two basketballs, one softball, one ball pump, three tennis balls, four cones and two jump ropes. The total value per bag is about SEK 900.

The Crown Princess Couple's Foundation introduces a Youth Council
In the work of assessing and prioritizing between projects that the Crown Princess Couple's Foundation is to support, the Foundation has appointed a Youth Council, which in 2019 consists of pupils in grade 9 from the Skarpatorpskolan school in Skarpnäck.
The Crown Princess Couple's Foundation has an Expert Council to ensure that the projects supported by the Foundation effectively promote good health and strengthen the community among children and young people in Sweden.
The Crown Princess Couple's Foundation is now also introducing a Youth Council with the aim of including young people and involving them in the evaluation process. This year, the Youth Council consists of pupils in grade 9 from the SSkarpatorpskolan school in Skarpnäck. The members of the Youth Council are replaced annually.
The Youth Council, together with the Foundation, will discuss the received project applications, and then tell the Expert Council with their perspectives on what projects they see can make a positive difference for children and young people.
