Generation Pep's sixth Pep Ambassador is doctor, psychiatrist and author Anders Hansen.
We are incredibly pleased to announce another name among our Pep Ambassadors, namely Anders Hansen!
Anders, why you are a Pep Ambassador?
- Physical activity is the medicine we forgot, there is nothing to do with sports or performance. It is something for which people as a species are developed. This is especially true when we are young. Against this background, it is a pity that we are increasingly sedentary, especially young people. I am Pep Ambassador for the organization to run this issue professionally, purposefully and with the aim of achieving tangible results without being profitable
Anders Hansen is a doctor, psychiatrist and author. Among other things, he has written the book Skärmhjärnan and had summer and winter talks in P1.

Anders Hansen has visited Haga Palace to talk about his book with Daniel. He has also spoken at the Sports Day in Haga Park and at Generation Pep's Pep Forum.

Daniel just delivered Generation Pep's "Årets Peppare" Prize to Fritidsbanken at the Sports Gala (which is Generation Pep's partner). "Årets Peppare" Prize was delivered for the third time.
Fritidsbanken's work is about giving all people the opportunity for physical activity, regardless of who they are, by offering sports and leisure equipment for free lending like a library. Fritidsbanken started in Deje in Värmland and thanks to an idea that was born in 2013, over 500 000 of loans are now made throughout Sweden. The material that is lent to the old and the young is recycled and thereby the Fritidsbanken assumes responsibility that extends beyond health and equality.

Generation Pep's managing director Carolina Klüft should have been at the Gala. But she writes at her Instagram:
"I and @patrik_kluft looked forward to a wonderful evening with colleagues to celebrate 2019 fantastic athletes and their achievements. In addition, Prince Daniel awards Årets Peppare in which @gen.pep and Swedish Sports Confederation are behind. But the life with three children came in between and we take care of sick children instead."

Generation Pep's press release
Fritidsbanken is Årets peppare 2020!

The jury's justification for why Fritidsbanken was awarded Årets Peppare 2020 Prize:

"A young girl said in a feature here on SVT a couple of weeks ago:
"Sport can be the first step toward becoming good at something."
So wise and true.
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you!
Thank you to your leader who sees and confirms that girl or guy who doesn't get as much encouragement otherwise."
"Something else that is important is that we break what is today the practice of habit, to sit still.
That is why in Generation Pep and the Swedish Sports Federation we have instituted the Årets Peppare Prize.
A tribute to someone or some who make particularly important efforts to give children and young people the chance to live an active and healthy life."

Generation Pep launched on 31st January 2018 the national campaign "Upp och hoppa, Sverige" (Up and Jump, Sweden) against sedentary and to get people move more. Generation Pep continued the campaign last year and now also this year.

Generation Pep today at its website
Up and Jump, Sweden!
Sitting still is a global problem and we in Sweden are no exception. With the Campaign Up and Jump, Sweden, we encourage all of Sweden to more physical activity in everyday life and want to inspire more joy of movement!
In Sweden we are sitting an average of 9 hours a day. Too much sedentary leads to a number of negative health effects. You get tired, less effective and the risk of heart and vascular disease, type 2 diabetes and certain cancers increase. Sedentary shortens life. But breaking the sedentary also breaks many of the negative effects.
In the “Up and Jump, Sweden!” Initiative, Generation Pep engages all of our collaborating partners, our peppera and several of our schools affiliated with Pep School together in a manifestation day on January 31 for all children and young people's right to a healthy life.
Join the 2020 campaign
In this year's campaign, we challenge the whole of Sweden to do as many jumping jacks (arm jacks or head jacks go well!) As possible in 31 seconds, for children and young people's health. Show how many you can manage, or how many you can get together with friends, colleagues or family, in your social media during #uppochhoppa2020 #pepidemin. Then challenge your followers to do the same to pay attention to children and young people's right to equal health. The number 31 we have chosen to link to the date of the manifestation day 31 January. Don't forget to use #pepidemin #upandhoppa2020 and tag Generation Pep!

Vide: Up and Jump, Sweden 2020 - How many jumping jacks do you manage in 31 seconds?
Generation Pep's managing director Carolina Klüft and Generation Pep's Ambassadors Per Kasperi (a para hockey player) and Mårten Nylén (health inspirer, program manager and lecturer) compete in how many jumping jacks they do in 31 seconds. Per Kasperi did 60, Mårten Nylén 65 and Carolina Klüft 70. And they challenge everyone else.
Upp & Hoppa, Sverige! _ - Generation Pep

- The goal of Up and Jump is to inspire us to break the sedentary seat. Both adults and children in Sweden are among the most sedentary in the world, and we are made to move and then we need to do what we can to inspire more movement in everyday life, says Carolina Klüft, managing director at Generation Pep.
This year, the day is spreading by addressing a clear challenge to all of Sweden. In part, the challenge is to act as a catalyst for the manifestation day, but it is also a concrete movement document that can help more people break their sedentary.
- This year's campaign focuses on a joint movement - namely a jumping jack (an arm jack or head jack). We have thousands of schools, organizations and companies in our network that will take part in the challenge and in turn spread it in their networks. Our goal is for all of Sweden to do jumping jacks on January 31, says Carolina Klüft.

The rhetoric experts praise Daniel's speech at the Sports Gala when he delivered Generation Pep's "Årets Peppare Prize".

The detail everyone talks about after Daniel's speech
Prince Daniel made a success at the Sports Gala with his speech. Several who heard the speech responded specifically to a detail in it.
Prince Daniel's speech when awarding "Årets Peppare" was one of the most appreciated features of the Sports Gala. Especially his introduction to the speech is frequently cited on social media - where everyone agrees that the prince put his finger on something very important.
- In a world where what we have in common tends to diminish and what sets us apart seems to be increasing, sports and voluntary sector have an increasingly important role to play, said Daniel.
Rhetoric expert Elinor Falkman understands that Daniel's words have been so well received.
- It is an analysis of society. Rhetoric has one purpose: to bring society forward. Then it is good that a person like the prince, who represents the royal house, uses it to highlight something essential. This is a sign that he is taking the pace of what it looks like in society. It is becoming increasingly polarized, and he notices that.
Marie-Louise Zeisig, who has trained elocution for over 30 years, is also very impressed by Daniel's introduction.
- It may be that he wants to highlight all conflicts without taking a position. It is very elegantly done. It's brilliant. He captures the whole range of opinion in that sentence, she says.
Marie-Louise stresses that Daniel gave a both sympathetic and relaxed impression during his speech.
- He adds small words, he uses thought breaks, he works with identification. When he fingers the note, he shows little signs of a little tension - and that makes him human. It shows that he takes it seriously, she says.
In his speech, Prince Daniel quoted something that a young girl said in a feature he saw on SVT: "Sport can be the first step towards becoming good at something." Elinor reacts to this.
- He could quote a celebrity, an Usain Bolt figure, but he quoted a young girl instead. I think that was very nice, says Elinor.
Both Elinor and Marie-Louise give Daniel top marks for the effort.
- He was interrupted by spontaneous applause. This is an indication that the audience likes what he says. And I think he thinks it's pretty fun. Unlike others in the royal house who don't think it is so fun to hold this kind of speech, says Elinor.
- He is a great representative of Sweden and the royal house, says Marie.

All 5-year-olds in Sweden receive a free children's book
Generation Pep and Bonnier Carlsen have collaborated for three years to distribute the children's book "Sagasagor – fiffiga kroppen och finurliga knoppen" to Sweden's children. With the support of the Cancer Society and a number of foundations, the book can now be distributed to all Sweden's five-year-olds.
Today, four-year-olds sit still for almost half of their waking time. To inspire the very youngest to enjoy the movement with their parents, Generation Pep and Bonnier Carlsen together with author Josefine Sundström and the illustrator Emma Göthner produced the children's book "Sagasagor – fiffiga kroppen och finurliga knoppen" which was released in 2017. This year the book has got a new chapter on healthy eating, to cover the whole aspect of healthy living habits.
The book is part of Generation Pep's work to disseminate the importance of having children move at least 60 minutes and eat at least 500 grams of fruits, berries and vegetables every day. In addition to providing both children and parents with important knowledge, the book will also inspire and provide tips on how parents and children can eat healthy food and move along.
- It is incredibly gratifying that, with the support of the Cancer Society, the Gålö Foundation, Jakob Wallenberg Foundation, The Frimurare Barnhus Foundation Stockholm, we can continue to distribute the book to all regions throughout Sweden, says Carolina Klüft, managing director at Generation Pep.
The book is available in several different languages so that as many children as possible can read the book together with their parents.
Interest in the book has been great, both among families with young children and adults working with children. The book contains facts and knowledge about the body and bud and has concrete movement tips full of play.

Daniel, Estelle and Oscar (and Victoria's voice) at Generation Pep's video, taking part in "Up and Jump, Sweden" challenge.

Of course, the Crown Princess family has also accepted this year's challenge in #uppochhoppa2020. Jumping Jacks outdoors with lots of fun - movement is fun!
What does it look like when you do this year's challenge? How many jumping jacks do you manage in 31 seconds? ⁣
Don't forget to share your videos when you do the challenge and tag your friends.

Victoria says:
Hi hello! Do you stand there and hang over a screen? Come on now, up and jump!
Then Daniel, Estelle and Oscar start to move, with the music of Håkan Hellström's ”Du kan gå din egen väg”.

Prinsessan Estelle hoppar med sina kryckor

A princess on crutches, a prince with pepp on his legs and a small cutie in red boots. The Crown Princess family just shared the most charming video of the year!
Victoria's familiar voice is heard behind the mobile camera before an incredibly beautiful video takes off.
Right now, the Crown Princess couple's foundation Generation Pep is trying to get all of Sweden to do Jumping jacks for 31 seconds. And the royal is no worse. Late Sunday, Victoria and Daniel shared a wonderful movie where the princes Daniel and Oscar as well as Princess Estelle - on crutches (!) And one leg - show that they too can jump!
For the music, which could belong to something from Håkan Hellström's large library, the trio begins to jump while the Crown Princess is filming. Little Prince Oscar soon falls laughing to the ground, in his nice red boots. Princess Estelle is good at jumping on, with crutches swinging around her face. This is the first time we have seen her in crutches, and certainly it is wonderful that she seems to be incredibly lively!
In the background, their peppy dad is visible. Daniel who will now make the whole country jump.

In May 2017 Generation Pep and Bonnier Carlsen published a book "Sagasagor: Fiffiga kroppen och finurliga knoppen" (Saga Tales: Nifty bodies and shrewd heads) written by Josefine Sundström and illustrated by Emma Göthner. A book with the goal of awakening the children's desire for physical activity.

Now Generation Pep cooperates with Bonnier Fakta and they publish another book on 28th July.
Worst best health, cooperation with Generation Pep to raise children's health
In Worst best health Maria Dufva turns to the young and explains with the help of experts on movement, diet, sleep and mental health how screen time can affect feeling. The book is full of facts, advice and real stories from children that Maria Dufva encountered in her work as a criminologist and lecturer in schools. She often meets children who feel addicted to their mobile and wonders how they can break the pattern. This is the sequel to the success of the Worst Best Network sold in over 150,000 copies.
Maria Dufva is a criminologist and works with children who have been exposed to crime, but over time has specialized in crime online. She gives lectures to children, young parents and school staff and is often invited to comment on current events concerning child safety online in various media.
Carolina Klüft, Operational Manager at Generation Pep:
- We see that more and more children and young people are moving too little and eating too little of what the body needs to feel good. Above all, we see that teenagers are the group that is most sedentary and who, to the lowest extent, eat fruits, vegetables and fish according to the dietary advice. Against this background, we are delighted to work with Maria Dufva and Bonnier Fakta to produce this book that is aimed at children and young people. Our hope is that the book will be able to help more people gain knowledge of what the body needs to feel at its best.
From the content
Sleep - about rest and recovery
The food - about diet and nutrition
The body - about movement and activity

Daniel had today a telephone meeting with Generation Pep.

Bara Vanlig Hälsa with their project of Health-oriented activities for children and young people with disabilities is one of the project The Crown Princess Couple's Foundation supports.

Bara Vanlig Hälsa tells at its Instagram today:
At 13:25 a person from the Court calls. @kungahuset -Hey Niclas! -The Crown Princess wants to call you and have a talk to see if the Crown Princess can help in any way. - Do you want to talk to the Crown Princess? - Then she will call you around 14:00.
We talked about Corona and how it affects our target group and society at large.
The Crown Princess wanted me to greet all you participants, volunteers and social support. The Crown Princess appreciated the visit to Hellasgården very much.
The Crown Princess thinks it is incredibly sad that we do not start now again, but Victoria has a full understanding that we don't.
Victoria thinks that we should try to find digital ways to socialize like exercise and movement on film.
The Crown Princess asked about personal assistance and we talked about LSS (The Act on support and service for some disabled people). She really cares about Bara Vanlig for real!
I am incredibly proud that we have Crown Princess Couple Foundation as support! The Crown Princess enjoys what we do and really sees that it is useful for those who do not have it easy to make friends!
Thank you you are the best! Let's get through this!
Have received ok from Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria to reproduce the conversation we had.
Have a nice weekend!

Generation Pep has published their Annual Report 2019

At the report it is told among other things:
Generation Pep is a non-profit initiative founded in July 2016. The initiator is the Crown Princess couple and behind Generation Pep are leading Swedish companies, foundations and nonprofit organizations. Legal person is the Crown Princess Couple's Foundation, its board consists of HRH The Crown Princess, HRH Prins Daniel, Elin Annwall, Karl-Johan Persson, Johan Skarborg, Fredrik Wersäll och Jan Lindman.
This board has appointed a steering group for Generation Pep:
HRH The Crown Princess, HRH Prince Daniel, Elin Annwall, Eva Carlheim, Cristina Stenbeck, Per Strömberg, Magnus Tyreman and Johan Skarborg.

In January 2019, we were 150 companies, non-profit organizations and public organizations in the network and by the end of the year we were almost 400.
During the year we had two network meetings there more than 100 people participated on both occasions.

Carolina Klüft, the operational manager of Generation Pep, writes at her greeting among other things:
When the door to 2019 was closed we were almost 1800 schools, organizations, companies and authorities who together stood behind Generation Pep's vision that all children and young people should have the opportunity and the will for an active and healthy life. We know that this figure will only keep increasing.
We see increased interest from both politicians and media to report on the issue and although it does not by definition mean that the development turns, consciousness is a prerequisite for change.
However, this change had not been possible to happen if we at Generation Pep have done this ourselves.
We are not Generation Pep without all of you who support our vision and help to drive development in the right direction! Together we create a popular movement for more physical activity and healthy eating habits.

Generation Pep has published on 31st March its second Pep Report, the first was published last year. Daniel should have made the official launch of the Pepe Report on 14th April at Volvo Showroom.

The Pep Report
The Pep report - a comprehensive survey of children's and young people's health habits in Sweden.
For the second year, the Pep report 2020 is released, one of the most comprehensive surveys of children's and young people's health in Sweden. The report shows that only 14 percent of the children and adolescents included in the study move to the extent they need, and eat enough of what the body feels good about.
Among other things, the Pep report 2020 notes that:
Only 2 out of 10 children reach the recommended amount of physical activity. Teenage girls are the group where the lowest proportion reaches the recommendation.
Sedentary screen time is still very common, especially among the teenagers. Almost every fourth teen has indicated that they sit still in front of a screen for five hours or more.
Adults are important role models for both physical activity and eating habits. Children whose guardians themselves do not move are to a greater extent inactive.
Only 14 percent of the children included in the study move to the extent they need and eat enough of what the body feels good about.
The result shows no improvements in key issues since last year's survey.
In the survey, over 9,000 children and adolescents aged 4-17 answered questions about how they exercise and move, what they eat and how factors around the children are related to their living habits. Behind the study is Generation Pep and the study is carried out with the support of the Heart Lung Foundation. The SOM Institute at the University of Gothenburg has conducted the survey. In the work on the report, a number of researchers and experts have also participated in an advisory group.
Who's behind it?
Generation Pep conducted the survey in collaboration with Karolinska Institutet and the SOM Institute at the University of Gothenburg. Linked to the survey, there is an advisory group consisting of representatives from Gothenburg University, the Public Health Agency of Sweden, Karolinska Institutet and the National Food Agency.
The survey is funded by Generation Pep and The Heart-Lung Foundation and is approved by the Regional Ethical Review Board in Stockholm.
Who has been selected to participate and how have we obtained contact information?
The list of participants comes from the population register and is a random statistical sample of children aged 4-17, living throughout Sweden. The contact information comes from the Swedish Tax Agency's register of public records. Participation in the survey was completely voluntary.
How are the results used?
The answers from the survey are always reported anonymously and at group level. The results of the survey will be used in research in many different areas.

More and more children at home - digital leisure can create the security children demand
More and more children are home from school due to corona. That is why Rädda Barnen (Save the Children) and Generation Pep have initiated a digital leisure program with the support of Radiohjälpen and Skandia Foundation Idéer för livet, where children can learn different things, get active leisure time and support. Together with public actors, organizations and companies, we can start a business that gives children the security they need now.
Rädda Barnen and Generation Pep have taken the initiative of a digital leisure time together with public actors, other organizations and companies. Radio assistance and Skandia, among other things, now enable children to have the opportunity to develop knowledge, get an active free time beyond their own digital networks and receive psychosocial support from safe adults.
Isolation and quarantine linked to corona increase the risk of abuse, both at home home and on the internet. The entire community needs help here to prevent this and support these children. We want to ensure that children receive well-adapted information about their rights and where to turn if something happens. With the platform we also want to guide and guide children to where they can get both inspiration to get a meaningful free time but also support when something difficult happens, both at home and online.
- When more children spend more time at home, we know that sitting still increases. As part of the platform, we want to be a part of and spread joy of movement to all children. Movement has a number of positive effects, it reduces the risk of a variety of diseases in the long term and has a direct effect in making us happier and more attractive, says Carolina Klüft, operational manager at Generation Pep.

- There is a great need for support for the city's young people in Helsingborg. We see ourselves as a good complement to other activities aimed at young people. Under the circumstances prevailing in society today, we feel that it is more important than ever to reach out to young people to find out what they need, says Alexander Ström, operations developer for the Frysuset in Helsingborg.

Fritidsbanken and Generation Pep launch a useful "ice cream truck"
Generation Pep and Fritidsbanken together stand behind the new initiative Fritidsbanken Pep Up, a mobile leisure bank where children and young people, and even adults, can borrow equipment to test on various leisure activities. The inspiration comes from the ice cream truck, and just like the ice cream truck, the Pep Up cars will also have their signature melody, but instead of ice cream, it is invited to a motion party!
- We know that we have been a challenge for our entire society lately. Many businesses have been reorganized to meet new challenges and so are ours. Through this collaboration with Fritidsbanken, we can ensure that more children and young people are inspired and have an increased opportunity to borrow equipment free of charge to test new activities. At the same time we can ensure that it happens in a safe way when it is outdoors, says Carolina Klüft, operations manager of Generation Pep.
At 20 locations, from Boden to Trelleborg and Visby to Öckerö, children and young people throughout Sweden will have the opportunity to be inspired by the joy of movement when they hear the peppy signature melody from FUNtasiFabriken, which will be played when Fritidsbanken Pep Up rolls in.

Honey from Haga Palace
130 SEK
Around midsummer, the first honey is harvested from the hives at Haga. During a normal year, the four beehive communities usually produce a harvest of between 80 and 100 kg of honey.
The honey is then sold in the Royal Gifts Shops and the proceeds go to the Crown Princess Couple's Foundation, which promotes good health and strengthened community among children and young people in Sweden.

Finally we get to see the Crown Princess family again! It is via Generation Pep's Instagram that the family shares a good tip for getting started and moving now during the summer.
Generation Pep and Save the Children have together created a platform called Digifritids. It is adapted for children in the primary school age and is filled with tips for different types of activation. There are movement breaks, jigsaw tips, games and movies.
Victoria, Daniel, Estelle and Oscar show the platform with a movie where they show a typical situation in everyday life. You can see Estelle say she is bored and ask the rest of the family to come up with something. Daniel sits with his phone and answers "Are you tired of just sitting here?" and Victoria asks if Estelle has any suggestions. Then Estelle says that she read about Digifritids and Oscar helps to choose a movement activity from the list.
Suddenly Daniel stands ready to do push ups with Oscar hanging on his back, while Estelle jumps over and then under dad Daniel. Oscar is laughning while mom Victoria cheers. So cozy and what show Oscar offers! It is impossible not to smile while watching the movie.

Oscar and Estelle's call: "Up and jump"
The Crown Princess family shows samples of both their physical and theatrical abilities.
In a video on Generation Pep's Instagram page, Prince Daniel and Crown Princess Victoria are sitting at Haga Palace with their children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar. The family has nothing to do.
- So boring, can't we do anything else? says Estelle.
The Little Princess suggests that they play a movement game where you jump and crawl under each other.
- An up and jumping thing that you can do with family and friends.

There are really simple tricks to having fun even in these times, and the Crown Princess family can testify. Digifritids is a platform created by Victoria and Daniel's organization Generation Pep and Save the Children. The festive and useful website is adapted for children of primary school age (1st-6th grade).

The Crown Princess family testing Digifritids has now been put to the website of Digifritids. Many of the movement tips have been published at Generation Pep's social media during the spring. Generation Pep's operational manager Carolina Klüft and the staff of Generation Pep have been seen in them showing various ways to move at breaks. Choose "Välkommen" and then go to Rörelsepauser.

Victoria and Daniel are very involved in the work of Generation Pep (and the whole Crown Princess Couple's Foundation), and it is good to see the whole family taking part in the action sometimes.
We remember this video from February 2019, from Generation Pep's "Up and Jump, Sweden" campaign, with Haakon, Mette-Marit and children.

The Swedish royal family is testing a digital platform and is doing some sporting activities themselves - and little Oscar in particular is having a lot of fun.
Being a member of a royal family means having a lot of responsibility. You have to keep appointments, smile kindly, take pictures and always keep your attitude. Sounds worse than it is - because fun and romping around is also allowed for the kids every now and then. To Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Daniel it is important that their children Estelle (8) and Oscar (4) have as normal a childhood as possible and are not disadvantaged by their fame. And some projects that you tackle in the service of the Crown are just fun! So also the project "digifritids", a platform for children in Oscar and Estelle's age, on which there are a lot of entertainment offered.

Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel have been in the home office for weeks due to the corona crisis. In addition, like many parents, they look after their children. Princess Estelle, eight, goes to school as usual. But lessons and homework are also done at some point, and fun and games are on the program. Sure, Prince Oscar, four, also wants to participate. The new platform www.digifritids.se of the charities "Generation Pep" and "Save the Children" is just right for the royals.
