Thread for the weddings of the descendants of Infante Alfonso Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Duke of Calabria, and Infanta Alicia Bourbon-Parma.

2024

Teresa Urquijo y Moreno (maternal granddaughter of the 1st Marquis of Laserna and Mª Teresa of Bourbon-Two Sicilias and Bourbon-Parma) will marry José Luis Martínez-Almeida y Navasqües, mayor of Madrid.

The wedding has been confirmed by the groom, and according to the media it will take place on April 6 in Madrid.

There are also growing rumors about the wedding of Victoria López-Quesada Bourbon-Two Sicilias and Enrique Moreno de la Cova. Victoria is the granddaughter of Infante Carlos and Anne d'Orléans.

According to Vanitatis, the wedding would be in September and the date has been chosen to facilitate King Felipe's attendance.

The Spanish Royal House and Bourbon-Two Sicilias have always had a close bond between the royal cousins.

I hope it always remains so.

In my matchmaking dreams, I wanted Victoria to marry Juan Valentín Urdangarín. Well, she's going to be a beautiful bride anyway, her boyfriend seems very nice.
The first of King Felipe's goddaughters to get married.

That's very nice and thoughtful that she wants to ensure the King's presence. Time goes by so quickly! Just "yesterday" Victoria was a cute flowergirl at the King and Queen's wedding..now she is getting married!

Indeed ,those 20 years have simply flown by!

She was the one who got kicked by Felipe Marichalar.

papers are speculating if Letizia attends the wedding, in the past she usually stayed clear of aristocratic weddings and Felipe went on his own.

The article does not say that, and if it did it would be false.

Queen Letizia has attended all of the royal, family and friend weddings that Felipe has attended. King Felipe has only attended alone the weddings of a godson and a goddaughter, which were outside of Madrid and at which the king attended the mass but not all the celebrations. Neither of them was aristocratic.

I have doubts that Victoria is King Felipe's goddaughter, this is the first time I have read it. In any case, Cristina and her family are probably the closest people to the king and queen in the family circle, sharing friends and activities, so if there is a wedding where it is possible to see them, it is this one.

The wedding of Teresa Urquijo and José Luis Martínez-Almeida will be in the church of San Francisco de Borja in Madrid on April 6 at 12 and the celebration will be at Canto de la Cruz, the estate of Teresa Borbón Dos Sicilias.

According to the Spanish press, King Juan Carlos, Queen Sofia, Infanta Elena and her children and Infanta Cristina will attend the wedding.

Although King Felipe and Queen Letizia are invited to the wedding, it is more unlikely that they will attend. King Felipe has an event in Sevilla, and the groom's high political role may be a problem with the current political environment in Spain and the upcoming elections.

Its a pity that the family have sold off most of the jewels of the late Infanta Alicia.

Trying to find the family connection between the bride and the royal guests:
(4) Teresa Urquijo y Moreno - (3) Beatriz Moreno y Borbón-Dos Sicilias - (2) Princess Teresa of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Duchess of Salerno - (1) Infante Alfonso of Spain, Prince of the Two Sicilies, Duke of Calabria - (S) María de las Mercedes, Princess of Asturias - (0) King Alfonso XII of Spain

(2) King Juan Carlos of Spain - (1) Infante Juan, Count of Barcelona - (S) King Alfonso XIII of Spain - (0) King Alfonso XII of Spain

(0) = Latest shared ancestor
(S) = Siblings
(#) = Xth cousin

So, the bride is a fourth cousin of Juan, Felipe and Victoria. Her grandmother is a second cousin of king Juan Carlos.

The bridegroom is the current mayor of Madrid.

Infante Alfonso of Spain, Prince of the Two Sicilies, Duke of Calabria was the half-brother of the Countess of Barcelona, mother of King Juan Carlos. So they are also first cousins.

Teresa raises horses, and Infanta Elena has often trained on her estate, as have Felipe and Victoria (Teresa's brother is one of her best friends). Cristina's relationship is less close, but lately she does not miss the opportunity to attend events in Spain.

Thanks, I thought there was a link via Juan Carlos' mother, knowing that she is a Borbon as well... but somehow wasn't able to pinpoint it.

And his mother Maria de las Mercedes, Princess of Asturias was the older sister of King Alfonso XIII.

Teresa was a radiant bride.

Teresa was a radiant bride.
There is quite some age difference between the bride and groom. Was he married before?

Tereza Urquijo is the daughter of Beatriz Moreno y Bourbon , daughter of Teresa born Princess of Bourbon Siciles, sister of the late Don Carlos the last Infant of Spain whose wife was seen at the Wedding.
Her great grand mother was Princess Alice of Bourbon Siciles who was the owner of jewels of great value sold in an important Auction..She never allowed her daughter in law Princess Anne d' Orleans to wear them. She died when she was 101 years.
What a glory Wedding for the Lord Major of Madrid. More Pictures of the guests than the new weds. They will have their pictures in Semana and Hola.

Shame the bride had no tiara for her Wedding day!

Anne of Orleans and Princess Teresa of Borbon Two Sicilies looked very regal.
The duchess of Calabria too for wearing a hat!

I don't known what the wedding date was set but it was always clear that Felipe would hand over the trophy at the copa del rey football game, therefore the clash of dates could have been no cooincidence.

The king attends few weddings of close relatives or godchildren. I don't think it was his idea to go to the wedding of his second cousin's daughter with a politician. Almeida was a perpetual bachelor and his wedding would have been news in any way, if we add to that that he married a bride with royal blood (and Juan Carlos and Cristina in the photo) and family from the business elite, well the show it was going to be important and so were the controversies that accompanied the wedding. It was not an event for the Head of State, especially with the Basque Country and Catalonia in an electoral campaign and politicians in continuous discussions.

While the presence of Elena and her children was understandable due to their closeness to the family due to their love of horse riding, the presence of the rest has been more forced. Juan Carlos and Cristina seem to not want to miss the opportunity to appear in the photo.

I got the same feeling, Cristina maneuvering her way back into the family. As we can see in UK, sudden illness etc can strike and there is hardly anybody left to do some basic jobs. JC is gone anyway, Sofia will do events maybe 5 more years and thats it. Leonor and Sofia still in education.

On another note, the age difference between groom and bride is really striking, she could be his daughter.
