Queen Silvia attends on Sunday at the traditional Childhood Day at Gröna Lund.
Secretary General Paula Guillet de Monthoux from World Childhood Foundation tells that during the years over 8 million SEK has been collected with this event to WCF. The money has been used in their work with children at risk of violence and sexual abuse. The Childhood Day and cooperation with Gröna Lund has made crucial difference for many children, both in Sweden and worldwide.

Expressen met queen Silvia in Gröna Lund and asked
What does Childhood and Childhood Day mean for the Queen?
- Childhood is doing a very important job. We have worked for 16 years and we have had over 600 projects, not only in Sweden but also in South America, USA, Asia, and Europe. We are there where children need our help.
Queen Silvia tells specifically about a project she burns extra for. A project she also wants to spread further to a previous homeland.
- I've seen a model in Iceland called Barnahus. I have brought it to Sweden and it is amazing. You collect all the instances in a house for a child who has been the victim of violence. The kids don't have go to different places and tell the same thing 15 times. There are about 30 such places in Sweden and as many in Brazil. I would love to take it to Germany as well, she says.
However, it was not just Childhood Day highlighted on Sunday. Mother's Day is appreciated even in the royal family. But the Queen flags also because it might be time to make a new day, so that grandchildren could congratulate her.
- It was very nice. I do not think there's grandmother's day, but maybe it will be? That's wonderful.
After intense days, with the baptism of Prince Oscar, it was primarily tCrown Princess Victoria, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Madeleine, who courted the Queen on Sunday.
- The grandchildren were a little tired after such a great day. But I have had contact with the parents. Someone who was away called and sent a greeting. They all thought to congratulate their mother, so that was nice, says Queen Silvia.
- It is an important day and I wish all the mothers all the luck in the world.

Madeleine is wearing a recycled gown from November 2012 for the gala tonight. I liked it better the first time, but it still a lovely gown.

^^ the interview
The Queen used to come home from trips and talk about vulnerable children.
It got Madeleine to realize how privileged she was.
- She dared talk about the problems, the princess says in an exclusive interview with Expressen.

Princess Madeleine is back in New York for a few intense days. Yesterday she launched with Queen Silvia's charity organization World Childhood foundation an app that will serve as a tool in the fight against sexual abuse of children. Madeleine also participated in a seminar at the UN headquarters organized by Childhood to discuss new UN bill from a child's perspective.
Afterwards, Madeleine tells how important it feels to be in there, of her commitment - and how it all began.
- It really means a lot for me to be here, that I can use my voice and highlight these issues. It needs to be done. Because there is a certain stigma surrounding sexual abuse, it is extremely important that we talk about the problems and above all talking about how big the problem is. The fact that there are 200 million children who are being exploited is terrible and unacceptable.

Princess Madeleine was working as a project manager for Childhood during her years in New York and has continued with the mission of the organization even after moving to London. In recent years, she feels that the issues have been given a more prominent place on the agenda.
- I'm so happy to be here and see that we - the United Nations - are talking about problems. We are talking about children's rights, which has not always been a given. It was only last year that the UN development goals came to focus on child abuse. It is a big step in the right direction.

Does the Princess remember any particular moment or event when she decided to start working on these issues?
- It was probably due to a series of events, but especially when Mom came home from her travels and the work she did with Childhood. She always told me what she had seen, what she's been through and about the children she met who were in really horrible situations. I was quite small then, but she dared to talk even with her children about these problems. It got me to be involved and feel "God, I have been privileged to have it so good".
- After that, I wanted to help and do good, and I wanted to support my mother in the work - for it is quite heavy. These are difficult questions and she has been so busy in her role as Queen. She has so much to do that if I can do small part and help her with Childhood I'd love it.

Even on her official Facebook page yesterday the princess praised her mother when she unveiled the new app:
- I have always admired my mother's courage and aims to continue to fight against sexual abuse of children. As a mother of two, I am now even more determined to help create a world free from sexual abuse for all children in our lifetime, she wrote there.
Just like the princess wrote - and talked about here at the UN - the princess is now the mother of two small children. How has this role changed you and your attitude to work?

It is a clear change. I know myself how vulnerable one's own children are and how innocent they are. One wants to protect them from all evil! And so one thinks of all the children who have no parents and who do not have those safe arms. So it is clear, I feel I want to fight even harder now for all children to have a safe environment.
Is princess concerned for her own children? It's like we talked about, in many ways a dangerous world.
- Yes, it is, and yes, absolutely. Obviously also the Internet, which is very good in many ways, but also uncomfortable considering everything that is going on against children. But it is especially important that we talk about the problems.
Madeleine says that if there is anything she wants to achieve, it is more willingness to take on these issues.
- A call to all parents to talk to their children and indeed tell their kids that "you have rights, you have the right to say no, this is my body and no one touches my body if I do not want it." To educate parents feels like something important that we need to focus on.
Quick course for parents
According to Madeleine, it is also what is the aim with the new app.
- It's like a crash course for parents and other adults around children who are wondering what you can do. It is both a deterrent, how to prevent anything happening and what you can do if you see something. You might see the sign but do not quite know what to do, you can go into the app and then there are quick steps - how to react and whom to contact.

Speaking of children and the princess's own children - Princess Leonore really charmed Sweden lately. She seems to have a determined will and can be quite mischievous ...
- Mmmm, says Madeleine and starts laughing.
How is it to more children?
- It really is great fun. But it is full. Therefore, it also feels great to be here and instead focus on the world's children.

Great interview! Madeleine is very well versed on the subject!

Yeah, I think she also avoided the question about her own children well. She wanted to talk about what she was doing there instead of talking about Leonore again.

Prinvess Madeleine is on a visit to the States currently to carryout engagements on behalf of childhood, where among other things she will attend board meetings in her capacity as a board member.....this is yet another visit not listed on her court calendar -.- not to mention that no programme of events was published either, the only reason this visit has been made known is because svenskdam called the court asking why Madde and Chris didn't attend the events of the second day of the State Visit

Its pleasure to see these new pictures. Its strange how some events, e.g. board meetings will be listed on the court calendar, others not.

Princess Madeleine visited some organisation yesterday in New York, Im not sure what the visit was exactly as of yet but she was there in her capacity as a representative of World Childhood Foundation

It really is a shame that the court doesn't include her work with childhood in her court calendar most of the time. Were it not for her facebook page and photos posted by people she meets it would, and many times does go unnoticed. It is especially strange when considering how similar events by other royals are always documented

Four new members join the board of the World Childhood Foundation:
HRH Princess Madeleine, Inge Thulin, Anna Ryott and Geoff Gage.
Princess Madeleine has worked for Childhood at the office in Stockholm and Childhood's offices in the USA, she is also an honorary member of the Board of Childhood in the United States.
- We are very proud and happy to welcome Princess Madeleine, Inge Thulin, Anna Ryott and Geoff Gage to the World Childhood Foundation. Their knowledge and experience in their respective fields will strengthen Childhood further. I would also like to thank the two outgoing board members Richard Gage and Caroline Heinz-Youness for their contributions to the Board, which has been highly appreciated, says Kenneth Bengtsson, Chairman of the board of the World Childhood Foundation.

- It's wonderful to be here. I am so grateful to all who are here and the artists. It's a pleasure for me to be here with Childhood. A big and warm thanks to generous Gröna Lund who offers such a nice event.
Queen Silvia also thanked all the artists:
- Thank you also to the artists for spreading joy with your wonderful music and song. Thank you so much to the audience and most of all children. It is the childhood we celebrate, she says.
Queen Silvia has just returned from a state visit from Indonesia and at Gröna Lund, she raised up the children's vulnerability in Indonesia which she has now seen herself.
- I have just returned from Indonesia, a beautiful country far away where many children are very unfortunately having it difficult. I have seen many children living alone on the street without adults who protect them, she says.
