Thank you for the pictures! Are these the dresses at the V&A exhibit that Haakon and Mette-Marit are attending? After I saw the photos today of H & M-M entering the exhibit, I was curious to find a web site that would show pictures of Maud's dresses. Perhaps these are some of them.

For my taste a little bit too much black. You can hardly recognise anything. Well, I guess I expect too much, when I want the Royals to adapt the colours of their clothes to the colours of the surrounding area, in which they are photographed

It looks to me as if Sonja attended twice. Once at the press viewing, and once at the actual opening. (Note that we only see the Crown Prince and Princess once... and the last pictures of Sonja seem to me to be taken in the same spot)

Thanks Norwegianne. Excellent observation regarding the spot where Haakon and Mette Marit, and later, Sonja are standing. Sonja did attend the exhibiton twice. Once in the morning and again in the evening. Below are the pics of her leaving after the viewing in the morning.

AFAIK Queen Sonja did the official opening during the day, in the afternoon there was a private viewing for the british royal and Haakon and Mette-Marit foolowed by a dinner at the norwegian ambasador, I think it is strange that H and MM did not attend the day event, what were they doing...

Is Mette-Marit wearing fur in these pictures? I think this is the first time I've ever seen Mette-Marit (possibly) in fur. It must be cold in Norway, as cold or relatively as cold as it is in Denmark yet the Danish royals seem to sport fur much more than their Norwegian counterparts. Or is it a social thing?

Didn't they wear corsets at the time. They could have easily (correction, not so easily) pushed and pulled the corset to the desired waist size.

She seems to be wearing fur, however there are some pretty good jackets out there that looks like fur.

Most of the time it is colder in Norway than in Denmark... I think it is partly a social thing, because I have seen more people wearing fur in Denmark than home in Norway. But I also have read that Queen Margrethe wears some of it to show her support for the furtrappers on Greenland...

It looks as if Mette-Marit is wearing mink. I think it looks fabulous! I love the whole outfit and it looks as if she stole the show! (Great heels by the way!)

Mette-Marit has been wearing both real fur and fake (and gotten in trouble with various animal groups, and beeing praized by those whos sale exploded after she wore a fur collar in the very beginning). Usually she only wears smal fur trims on the collar or the arms, I do think she wore a brown furcoat when she arrived for the nobel concert, and now this which I cant be sure its real.

Sonja has always worn alot of fur. Märtha wore a little fur when she was in her early 20s and she was dressed by the Queen and had no style what so ever of her own. Then there were several years when she did not wear any fur at all and even asked a female journalist if her fur trim was real and smiled when the jornalist said it was fake. Lately I have seen her wear a coat with fur trimms but they could be fake.

I think the issue is really the animals, I admire royals who wear fake fur. I don't think they are cheap at all, infact, they are more aware of the problems and atrocities committed against the animals for the fur. Also, its a good PR move, people, especially animal enthusiasts who also watch royals would be happy to know that their royal isn't "killing their animals."

I am not really a big animal person, but if you know that there are people out there who get freaked about wearing fur, why would you parade your "real" fur in front of them and risk displeasure all around, especially if you are a public figure.

Actually I remember Sophie getting a lot of flack for wearing a fur hat and jacket some years back and I've noticed that Sophie has never worn fur since. So just as royals can increase sales of fur from their wearing them to occasions, they can also cause much uproar.

I am indifferent to the entire fur debate but was just suprised by Mette-Marit's fur jacket since I had never seen her in one before. And now that Larzen has mentioned it I do recall seeing Queen Sonja in a fur jacket now and then, but it must've not had a lasting effect on me! I always remember Queen Margrethe's big fur jacket (or one of many!) and didn't bat an eye when Alexandra and Mary showed up at the Opera House opening in furs, but Mette-Marit's appearance threw me a bit off kilter.
