I'll try to find the picture of Caroline painting her toenails, and just plain painting. They are serene, uncontroversial moments.

If I'm not mistaken I posted a picture of P. Caroline with Andrea aboard the Pacha and they were painting. So perhaps in the Pacha thread?

That could well be. I wanted to post the one of Caroline painting too, as a quiet pasttime anybody would do when on vacation. Except, as usual, poor Caroline can't do it in peace, she has to be photographed enjoying a private hobby !

And here are pictures of Caroline walking with her mom, or her dad, or her daughter... just like us...
What strikes me here, is how mature Caroline always seems, her poise, and of course, how formal everybody's clothes are, even for a simple stroll down the streets of Paris or Monaco, or other cities. Caroline's height helps in giving her that aappearance of peerness with her parents. Of course, she always favoured shoes with very high heels, at least in her youth. I think she enjoyed looking very tall.

The third one should say Alexandra, not Charlotte, obviously. I have a lot more, from all periods, I'd love to see yours !

Great job iloveroyals! I liked them all! I wish we could get more pics like that of Caro with Charlotte.

Yes definitely, great job! LOVE the 4th picture - Princess Grace in the turquoise (aqua?) blouse and light skirt. Such casual elegance! I remember seeing Princess Caroline in that same color combination in vacation photos a few years back.

thanks again!

Thank you both for your encouragement ! I have a few of Charlotte and her mom, one of them being Caroline looking pregnant (although apparently she wasn't) walking in Paris with Charlotte after Charlotte got her hair cut. (Dec 99, I believe). I am sure you know the one I mean; and more of Caro with mom or dad (a lot of them with Caro being fetched at the airport, which doesn't really qualify for taking a walk, but well..) I'll post them next week, after Easter, unless you beat me to it...

Wonderful job iloveroyals! Thank you so much for sharing so beutiful pictures!
I also had a huge collection, but I lost it, as my Mom threw it away when I got married and moved.

Do you have any pics of Caroline during her trip to the U.S she took with her parents on the U.S. bicentennial in 1977. She used to wear oriental style clothes and a very short haircut. Thanks in advance!

Dear Tosca, I'll look. I have several pictures of her attending her brother's graduation, and in Cape May with grandma (and Philippe) but offhand I can't remember those particular pictures you're talking about. I'll look when I come back from my trip. Happy Easter !

Yeah I remember those pics you mentioned iloveroyals :) looking forward to ur next additions.

This is a picture of Princess Grace going to an open market. I think it contrasts nicely with the one of Caroline doing the same thing. Caroline was so mediterrranean, gesturing, laughing, really interacting, Grace is well, so Grace...

A cute one of Prince Rainier helping Caroline with homework, a dictation actually. I love Caroline's expression... She seems to have been such an exuberant, uninhibited little girl, probably irresistible with her faces...

A few more of strolling...

This picture appears on the Howell Conant book on Grace.

There is nothing contrived in Grace's regal bearing, isn't there? Only a woman of this star magnitude can appear this immaculate in such a setting, buying beets in aquamarine and a Kelly bag!

Thanks for sharing, iloveroyals! Your clippings are real treasures!:flowers:

I love especially the last clipping! Is that Grace LaVine with P. Caroline? Little Stephanie is so cute..her facial expression when smiles stayed the same:)

I wonder if on that first posted link (clipping) is little Stephanie to whom P. Grace gives a swimming price (bottom of clipping)? Love Grace's gesture..

Ianna, you are right on both accounts: I read the text about Stephanie, and she is getting an award from Princess Grace, and it is Grace Levine with Caroline. Happy memories of simpler times...

You are right. ANY other woman would appear ridiculous going to the vegetable's market, dressed like this. Byt GRACE, any thinkg she was doing, she was perfect.

Thanks, Ianna, it's nice to put them to good use. They have moved with me from continent to continent and Pacific Coast to Atlantic coast and I have always treated them like family pictures, would never jettison them. I could actually post a lot more, but I never know if they have been posted before and can't go over every thread every time to check. I know that some members get frustrated when they expect to see something new and they've seen it before. But so many members have great treasures too that I was not ever aware of. What a delight !

Yes, but without getting their clothes stained...
Thanks, iloveroyals for sharing such wonderful pix! Please post more from the '70s!;)

Thanks for that BAC pic, iloveroyals!:flowers:

Few more of market shopping:) ..Caroline and Charlotte looking for perfect belt in St. Remy

This one or ?

It's bought

Charlotte getting some money..

How much do you need, Pomme?

Ianna, great find, I had actually never seen the princess with her wallet open. I guess I thought anything she bought she'd say "send the bill to the palace", this is really cute, and so realistic, daughter asking mom for money...

Interesting topic title. Except that they don't have to worry about where the next slice comes from nor have to worry about getting caught stealing milk from a grocer to feed one's baby when one is down on ones luck. Or, won't have to worry about where to lays one head when one is homeless. I hate to throw in that wrench to some positive aspect of the royals being like us. But, when they are at a market, they have a lot more money to spend and not have to worry about counting marks or francs or lires or silver. They can spend as much as they have and if they need more, there is the body guard not too far away who is keeping that homeless person from getting too close to the royal personage. We are only kidding ourselves if we really think they are so much like us. Because in realty, they aren't and neither are their children.:flowers:

I say this not to cause any problem, but it does bother me somewhat when we begin to think of them as ordinary people when they really aren't. We shouldn't kid ourselves that way or there will come a time when we will actually believe it and those same people will continue to pull the wool over our eyes and get away with something very serious.

huh?

Chill, it's just a thread, an interesting one for that matter.
Besides they ARE a little bit like us, they're humans, aren't they?

I like your insights Kimetha. Interest in royalty doesn't have to be displayed in teenie fangirl sycophancy does it?

I mean these people are like us in their humanity, but then there IS a difference born of totally different lifestyles, and expectations, as well as from educational opportunities and exposure.

Maybe I'm one of the few people on the board who is over 40, but I just don't get the satisfaction from toadying terror of actually looking at these people, not only through eyes of admiration for their good qualities, but eyes of reality as well.

Kimetha's post offers food for thought. There is nothing wrong with thinking a little more deeply than "He's cute!" and "I like her dresses." or "What a cuuuute baby!"

Of COURSE it's a cute baby, it's well fed, has state of the art healthcare, and is beautifully dressed! Many aren't so lucky. Why reduce ourselves to shallowness? It takes nothing from the cute baby if we acknowledge the truth of its good fortune.

Thanks for your support. I was glad to see someone saw the post and understood from it. But, there is a lot of "Barbie" doll mentality on the board. And, that's okay because it does keep people busy and wishing and dreaming for the Prince in Shiny Armour coming for them on a white horse. Didn't we all...then we grew up and could discern fantasy from reality.

The way I see it, the difference lies not in that they go shopping like us, have babies like us, "pull luggages" like us, but that they have their own weltanschauung or their psychological view of society and the(ir) world. F. Scott Fitzgerald left us a few good lines to think about regarding the rich and everyone else. "The very rich are different from you and me" and "the world, as a rule, does not live on beaches and in country clubs."

Ah, those old platform -soled shoes!!! I wonder how I could walk wearing that kind of shoes. I surely can't nowadays.

You're right. And it seemed she couldn't live without them at that time, especially around the Beach Club, near the boats...I think that apart from liking that fashion, she liked looking very tall (maybe taller than mom ?:) )
