I was thinking that we--and I include myself--do a lot of nit picking on this board with the five crown princess consorts. This one is getting too fat, this one is too thin, this one wears too much makeup, this one needs to brush her hair, this one has a fake smile, this one smiles too much, etc. etc. etc. Or we argue about who is better, who is the best, the prettiest, the best dressed, the smartest, the best cv, the best whatever, as long as our favorite is the best. The funny thing is that each of the crown princes obviosly thinks their own princess is marvelous and wonderful and brilliant.
Each crown prince saw in his now wife not only a woman he could love as a man, but a woman he could trust as a future king; they saw a woman who they had enough faith in and respect for to carry the weight of being queen consort in some future date and of meeting all the demands and requirements of their respective countries. They opted for love and respect and trust--to believe--and in today's ugly world that's a beautiful and almost daring thing to do. So instead of a competition, let's celebrate these men and these women and their unique and beautiful stories.
In hopes that others will share photos they find moving or lovely or cute or sweet, here I offer one image of each couple I find so:
Willem and Maxima--Always laughing together
Mathilde and Philipe: "still waters run deep"
Mette-Marit and Hakoon: two against the world
Mary and Fred: Mates
Felipe and Letizia: "Complicidad total" as the spanish press likes to say
