Caras Revista | | La sorpresiva visita de Máxima por el día del padre

Máxima also appears on the bottom of the cover.

The media was amazed by the fact that she made her van stop to step out and go into an ATM (and apparently, waited for other client to finish a transaction, as everyone else does)...

WOW! It seems that Princess Maxima visits Argentina as much as she can! I'm happy of it, for her parents could see their grand-daughters many times in a same year. But at the same time, the Princess seems to be very happy at the Netherlands wich is wonderful too. :flowers:

Vanesa.

Well, nothing new, they are mainly pictures ... it explains what De Horsten is, they talk about the girls growing up, Amalia at school, their plans to get a summer residence in Mozambique...excerpts from the princely couple's dialogue with the press at the photoshoot.

An article by La Nacion on Luque and a mother of the Plaza del Mayo's meeting with princess Maxima and the prince of Orange. Apparently Maxima is a fan of soccorclub Ajax while Willem-Alexander supports Feyenoord. Maxima is also a supporter of Maradona's old club Boca Juniors.

And Willem Alexander supports River Plate, says the article (River is Boca's traditional opposite team).

Both the football player and the mother met Máxima at their residence on November 24th. They brought her a copy of a book that talks about the 1978 World Football Cup and the military regime in Argentina, from a Dutch perspective.

In the article, it says that the Mother told Máxima that it had been difficult at first for her to dissociate the story of the Princess from her father's, and that they intended Máxima to "read that book to her children in the future, so to make them understand what had been going on."

I was wondering; Was the wedding of the Maxima and Willem-Alexander broadcasted on tv in or in the magazines in Argentina a lot?

But it's the other way around Verde Esmeralda; W-A is an Ajax-supporter and Maxima has the most sympathy with Feyenoord.
Fools, they still don't know that the only club in NL is PSV

I am not sure what this article from la Nacion says but I believe they have a flavour of icecream inspired by Princess Maxima:

Los Scannapieco son de los que más experimentaron en materia de sabores. A partir de febrero ofrece uno de uva chinche y mandarina criolla. Mate cocido, tomate, batata, membrillo, arroz con leche y ricotella son otras de las variedades que alguna vez ofreció. "No tuvieron mucho éxito y el cliente siempre tiene la razón", sentenció Emilio. Los que sí se pueden conseguir son los hechos en homenaje a Mozart, Piazzolla y Máxima Zorreguieta.

Yes, you are right. There are also flavours insipred in Piazzolla, Mozart, Maradona, etc.

Apparently, ice cream is very popular in Argentina. The article is highlighting a local ice-cream maker. The authors discuss the amount of ice cream consumed by Argentines each year. Even though ice cream is available by delivery or in stores, Argentines still like to go to the ice cream parlor.

This particular ice cream maker offers some unusual flavors, such as mate, tomato, potato, quince, etc. Maxima has inspired a flavor, but the authors decline to state what exactly that flavor is. :flowers:

Sorry if I missed anything. My Spanish isn't the greatest these days.

Indeed, ice-cream (not the industrial one, but the "artesanal" one, made by each ice cream parlor with fresh ingredients) is a cult here. The way the guy shapes it before it is handled to you is incredibly amusing to see... :w00t:

As sgl correctly says, the article doesnt state what the "Máxima" flavor tastes like. Just for fun, I phoned the ice cream parlor and they said they don't manufacture it anymore...:nonono:

That is an awful photo of the Princess.

There is a photo online of the princess & friends where two cigarettes can be seen. The main websites have removed the photo. It seems the king and queen are in for a lot of trouble to keep the princess off social media.

I don't like it either. And I guess, Alexia herself isn't happy about it either, as she seems rather well-aware of her image.

Princess Alexia's photograph is awful. I agree with the above critics.

Isn't she the one who was born with some type of respiratory problem and has been hospitalized several times...or is it the youngest one?

I hate how both the media and the public are creating a picture of Princess Alexia as a rebel, as a heartbreaker etc... Let the girl be what she wants instead of forcing a narrative on her. That didn't work well for Stephanie, Madeleine, Harry and several more

The media loves the "rebel princess" narrative and will use any little thing they can find to portray it.

What is the legal age for smoking in the Netherlands?

I recall the newly married Princess Máxima being privately photographed smoking but I don't know if she has continued or if she stopped.

Hola! obviously chose the most unflattering photo of the young princess to sell their story of her being a rebel.

:previous: Interesting. I didn't know the Netherlands had no age limit on smoking. So if it's true Alexia smokes, it's not technically illegal in the Netherlands but it still doesn't give off a "princess" image and that's what the media seems to be playing up.

there is no minimum age for smoking.
For buying tobacco the minimum age is 18.

In other countries, people understand the "minimum age to buy tobacco" products as the same as a minimum age for smoking.

If Princess Alexia smokes, but she is not old enough to buy tobacco, then I assume someone is illegally supplying her cigarettes or whatever tobacco product she uses.

Unfortunately, smoking is very common among European royals, including, surprisingly, the younger generations. I use the word "surprising" because, in America, smoking tobacco is not really common among teens anymore although vaping is quickly becoming a pandemic and cannabis is also quite popular.

In Portugal also the minimum age to buy tobacco I think is at 18 years.
But anyone before that age can smoke, if they can somehow get cigarettes.
Despite all the campaign that exists for young people not to start smoking, many young people still start smoking and at very young ages.
In previous generations, of the people who are now about 30 years old (my generation) it was normal for young people to start smoking very early, and that is happening again. People seem to have no notion of the harm that tobacco does.

Smoking is discouraged in the Netherlands as well: commercials for smoking aren't allowed, in stores tobacco can't be visible for sale (so locked in a cabinet or something).
But just to be clear, P.Alexia isn't doing anything *illegal* by smoking in this country.

The smoking policy is the same as drinking: purchase under 18 is not allowed but it is not illegal to smoke or drink at 16. In contrary to portrayals in American media of Europe being under a suffocating socialist dictatorship rule without any freedoms and liberties left, in the end anyone has an individual choice and an own responsibility.
