King Carl Gustaf attended yesterday a meeting of King Gustaf VI Adolf's Fund for Swedish culture.

Today the King attended a board meeting of King Carl XVI Gustaf 50th Anniversary Fund for Science, Technology and the Environment.

King Carl Gustaf inaugurated today in Kiruna Mainland Europe’s first facility for satellite launches with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and the President of the EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

In the first half of 2023, Sweden holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union.
On 12–13 January, the King, the Swedish government and the EU Commission met in Kiruna to discuss the priorities that will be relevant during Sweden's presidency. From the European Commission, President Ursula von der Leyen and the 26 commissioners of the college of commissioners participated.
On Thursday, the commissioners were introduced to the King and then the King had a meeting with Ursula von der Leyen. In the evening there was a dinner.
Today the participants visited the Esrange space base where the King, the Prime Minister and the President of the European Commission inaugurated a new launch pad for satellites, the first of its kind on European territory.

Nice to see that the court published so many photos of the meeting of the Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs. A pity that it was arranged when Victoria was in Australia.

Later today the King met Erik Thedéen, Governor of Sveriges riksbank, the central bank of Sweden. He started at his office on 1st January.

The King gave an audience to Anna Kinberg Batra, the new governor of Stockholm County since March 1, 2023. She has previously been a member of the Riksdag and party leader for the Moderate Party.

King Carl Gustaf attended Swedish Forest Industries' "Framtidsmötet" (Meeting of the Future) conference at Berns.
King Carl XVI Gustaf hands out prizes to people who have made valuable contributions to the forestry industry. "The forest is part of the people's soul".

The conference focused on how the forestry industry can contribute to solving our societal challenges to a greater degree than before. During the day, the participants were able to take part in lectures on challenges and opportunities with the green transition.

The Royal Academies instituted the so-called Bernadotte program on the occasion of the King's 70th birthday in 2016. At a ceremony in the Bernadotte library, this year's scholars were presented.
The King, who is the Academies' patron and first honorary member, awarded scholarships.

And the King delivered the Vega Medal to professori John Paul Smol, who works in the Department of Biology and Environmental Studies at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Professor Smol receives the Vega Medal in Gold in 2023 for his studies of long-term global environmental changes in lakes and rivers, and for his work on climate change with a particular focus on the Arctic.
The Vega Medal was instituted in 1880 by the Swedish Society for Anthropology and Geography. The King is the Society's patron.

King Carl Gustaf visited today Armed Forces' exercise Aurora 23 in Bromma.

During Aurora 23, parts of the Air Defence Regiment, Lv 6, have been re-based to an area near Bromma Airport.
The king began his visit by receiving information about Lv 6's activities and about the unit's ongoing and future tasks. He also received a demonstration of the anti-aircraft system 103/Patriot and anti-aircraft robot 98.

The King gave also an audience to Chief of Army Major General Karl Engelbrektson and Brigadier General Jonny Lindfors, who on 18 June succeeds Karl Engelbrektson as Chief of Army. The King was informed about ongoing activities and developments within the army and support to Ukraine.

The King's speech, he said among other things:
This year I have been a King and Sweden's head of state for 50 years. But I have been a scout even longer, for almost 70 years. That's how the idea of a value-based leadership arose - that the values that you were brought up in as a scout follow you into other and bigger tasks when you become an adult.

On May 15, the King awarded the Compass Rose scholarship to five young people who, in their leadership, showed courage, consideration and action. At the ceremony, young leaders who completed the Value-Based Leadership training also received diplomas from the King's hand.
