We just have on French TV Stephane Bern 's Secrets d' Histoire about King Louis Philippe I and Queen Marie Amélie. The last Monarchs of France. [...]
I thought Napoléon III and Eugenie were the last monarchs of France?
Thank you for the pictures. As both died in exile ( Great Britain) they are in Dreux only I think in 1976.
Apparently she felt uncomfortable with her husband having usurped the throne of their cousins the legitimate kings of France.I read that the queen did not want the title 'Queen of the French' on her tomb and instead wanted 'Duchess d' Orleans' .

The last King of France was Charles X. Louis Philippe, as "King of the French", was technically a usurper. And so was Louis Napoleon, whose regime (the Second French Empire) actually sprung from the Second Republic.
A lot was new to me for this Secrets d' Histoire where we may see places and personal royal ownings we may never see, as e a the Chateau D'Eu.

Most of those 20 minutes was spent listening to his wife begging him not to sign the instrument of abdication while his father King Charles X wept at their side.King Louis XIX reigned over France for only twenty minutes.
