Thank goodness the gold reliquary was found having survived the wanton destruction and sacrileges of the French Revolution.

I had always thought the gold reliquary was empty since 1793 when it was seized from the Carmelite church and its contents were dumped?

Not only was Jean II captured by the English so was his son,Philippe Duke of Burgundy and the Duke of Orleans.The duke of Bourbon was killed at the Battle of Poitiers in 1356.

Napoleon III Bonaparte was Emperor.
They explained that Louis Philippe d' Orleans did his oath before la Charte , he was not un Roi Divin and did not want to be called Roi de France but Louis Philippe Ier Roi des Français. His reign lasted only 18 years and was so surprised he had to abdicate. The King and the Queen went to England with a false name and were save.
The Duke of Vendome said what he liked was ' son esprit de famille" , he spoke about the famous painting of Louis Philippe and is 5 Sons, Orleans, Montpensier, Joinville , Nemours and the famous Aumale (Algerie)

An Anecdote : before they were King and Queen they were HSH the Duke of Orleans ans HRH the Duchess of Orleans (daughter of the King of Naples.)
