Earl and Countess of Wessex: Visit to Bulgaria, Romania & Slovenia - June 23-28, 2013

This title is absolutely correct for Bulgaria. Only englishspeaking people have such title form as princess Edward.
For example, wife of Grand Duke Vladimir was Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna in Russia. To call her Grand Duchess Vladimir was absolutely incorrect. In english books she is known as Grand Duchess Vladimir.
We see here cultural differences.

It could be argued that neither the English who call Maria Grand Duchess Vladimir, nor the Bulgarians or Russians who call Sophie Princess Sophie are correct, as neither is respecting the actual titles held or used by the individuals in question.

For what it stands, while I have seen many grand duchesses by marriage referred to by their proper titles in English (ie Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna) I have also seen many princesses by marriage referred to by incorrect titles in English (ie Princess Sophia). I don't believe it's necessarily a case of cultural differences so much as a case of not understanding (or caring) how British titles work, even within the English speaking world.

I love the video of them going around the hospital, Sophie is in her element with all the babies. You could see she was desperate to lift one up! I can imagine her thinking, "Let's take one home!"

"Princess Diana" being the perfect example, although I think this arose because she was already known as "Lady Diana" and so people continued to refer to her as *Title* Diana. In reality, she was no more a princess in her own right than Sophie was before her marriage to Prince Edward; she shared the same rank as her husband.

I don't believe it's necessarily a case of cultural differences so much as a case of not understanding (or caring) how British titles work, even within the English speaking world.

Awwww - Edward always comes across as a bit awkward around children but here he is lovely! The little girl obviously liked his funky tie - she approved!

I LOVE that Sophie is not afraid to show her emotions. She is so real in everything she does. And I do agree, if she hadn't had so many problems she would have deffinitely had more children.

I know that now they are attending Queen's birthday gala, and Countess is wearing white dress, but no pics. There is a love coverage for those in Romania.

Thanks LadyFinn. When there are up close photos of Sophie you just realise how many freckles she has, which is lovely. At least she doesn't try to cover them up. They really suit her.
