It’s a shame that Sophie’s work attracts relatively little press coverage. She’s working with some very important charities.

I agree. She's a diligent representative for the monarchy and her patronages.

Her visits to Rwanda and the DR Congo got half a page on page 30-something of my newspaper, whereas Kate and William's visits to Wales and Northern Ireland made the front page. It seems a shame that Sophie's work doesn't get more recognition.

In terms of the importance of the visits: the new heir and his wife visiting the nations making up the United Kingdom vs one of the royal highnesses making a visit abroad - I'd say the right visit was on the front page. Nonetheless, it would have been nice if this visit abroad requested by the government had received a little more prominence indeed.

As Global Ambassador for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness the Countess of Wessex will visit Botswana and Malawi this week, celebrating World Sight Day in Malawi October 13:

Really good to see Edward carrying on the DoE awards work and very interesting to see Margareta carry out an engagement with a reigning House.

Sophie continues her fantastic marathon tour of many places in Africa.

Again, it's a shame that their work gets so little press coverage compared to that of the King and Queen and the Waleses. You'd think "Edward visits Transylvania" would make a great headline!

Indeed. I'm resigned to it at this point even though they definitely deserve to have more headlines than they do. I'm happy when the national press cover them at all beyond a small quarter page.

On the evening of 13 October, at the Babeș-Bolyai University's Maximum Auditorium, Her Majesty Margareta and Prince Radu participated with Earl of Wessex and Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg at the Gold award ceremony in the Duke of Edinburgh's International Awards.

I've lost track of how many countries the Countess has visited. How long is this trip for?
She is really shining on these visits!

She combined the visits that she was supposed to do in 2020 with the ones from this year. So it was the ones that were cancelled as well. So it was DOC, Rwanda, Botswana, Malawi and Ethiopia.

SO causes were Violence against Woman - which will kick off the International Conference. Prevention of Blindness and Malawi's ending of Blindness due to Trachoma. She also visit a few projects paid by Foreign Aid.

Thank you Claire!
I've enjoyed reading about her journeys and the very important work done by these organizations.
