Here's a sweet tribute video that showcases what a great family man he was. Though he wasn't always the most tactful about voicing his discontent with his title it's clear that he was very much a good husband, dad, grandpa, and first gentleman. I like that he went out of his way to make his funeral special for his wife and found a compromise about his burial even though he still chose to not be buried with her (which I don't necessarily agree with but he is entitled to be buried where he wishes). I also like that Margrethe wasn't afraid to openly cry at her husband's funeral, being royal shouldn't mean that you can't show normal human emotions. She apparently also cried when giving her first speech after the death of her father. I feel the same about Prince Edward openly crying at his mother's funeral.
