A friend texted ME earlier "Victoria is opening Eurovision!" At first I though she meant a singer, until I realised it's the Crown Princess LOL

The whole Eurovision is quite a mess - I feel sorry for the royals of the host countries that always are expected to show up and in that way be involved in it. This year even wishing 'all contestants' good luck is now a moot point as one of them was pulled from the competition. The event is as political as can be (not just this year but also previous years; some years it is just a little more pronounced) - especially for an event that pretends to be neutral/non-political.

It must have been rather exiting with all the boo-ing of the EBU, so let’s hope the crown princess got some popcorn and has enjoyed the -well deserved- drama. It is a pity for the hosting nation though, who did their best to make a nice show with what seemed to be rather limited means and the last days under a lot of avoidable & EBU inflicted pressure.

The irony indeed after the most political show in history is that the most neutral country has won. Let’s hope it will rain many resignations and/or dismissals at the EBU who seemed out of their minds these last days.

I don’t think WA or Máxima showed up at the actual event a few years ago btw, just between the rehearsals.

When Belgium was the winner in 1986 with Sandra Kim , in 1987 whe had to organise the Eurovision , Prince Albert and Princess Paola did attend.

You are right, Máxima attended the repetition for the live shows on Thursday and was interviewed by Nikkie de Jager. I don't think Willem-Alexander showed up.
