The visit will come 5 years after the visit of the king and queen to Denmark. I assume a return state visit by Queen Margrethe II is not likely at this point so this is an alternative.

It feels rather odd to be talking about these international visits again, after everything was cancelled for months due to the Corona pandemic. Let's hope that the situation will remain stable and that the visit can go ahead.

The visit to the Netherlands has been postponed due to the current Corona virus situation, the Palace announced today.

Instead a virtual conference will be held on November 2/3 with the same circle of participants and the same overall theme "Partnering for Green Transition".

It is planned to find a new date for the visit when the situation has improved.

A shame, but it was to be expected.

Instead a virtual conference will be held on 2.-3. November where Crown Prince Frederik will ‘attend’ and hold a speech.

The trip has been postponed as we know due to covid, but Frederik will be giving the opening speech.

"Under the headline “Partnering for Green Transition”, His Royal Highness The Crown Prince on Monday, 2 November 2020 will deliver the opening speech when a digital business promotional campaign focused on The Netherlands takes place. It will be the first Danish digital promotional campaign ever with royal participation.

The opening speech will be held in the House of Industry in Copenhagen, with ministers and business leaders participating. The Netherlands minister of economic affairs and climate policy, Eric Wiebes, and two panel participants will take part via a big*screen. This part of the business promotional campaign will be livestreamed to participants in both The Netherlands and Denmark, who after the opening speeches and panel debate will take part in three online roundtable discussions on the business sector’s solutions for green transition of the energy sector. Participating guests can visit the stands of 19 leading Danish companies by way of the promotional campaign’s virtual 3D platform.

The promotional campaign is focused on increasing Danish-Netherlands cooperation on green transition in the energy sector. In addition to The Crown Prince, foreign minister Jeppe Kofod, climate, and energy and utilities minister Dan Jørgensen, Netherlands economic affairs and climate policy minister Eric Wiebes and a delegation of 19 Danish green companies take part. These will be matched on the Netherlands side by Netherlands officials and private sector decisionmakers from the energy industry.

The business promotional campaign is focused on green transition in the energy sector, particularly Danish solutions for district heating, energy efficiency and sustainable energy. An actual visit to The Netherlands will be held when that once again becomes possible.

And the new photo of Frederik is just so handsome

More to look forward to.

I've always enjoyed the interaction between King WA and Queen Maxima and M&F.
Because even though the announcement doesn't say so, M&F will drop by the Dutch Regent Couple to say hi. That's common courtesy, as M&F are on the job in the Netherlands.

The date match just about the end of the school year for Christian, so perhaps he will join his parents? He might just as well get started and the sooner the better. If so, it would be a nice opportunity for him and Amalia to do something together.
They know each other, are roughly the same age, come from royal houses that has roughly the same approach in how to do things and it's safe practice for both of them.
- So crossing fingers.

Even though M&F will be visiting personal friends, it's actually a very serious visit. Probably one of, if not the largest, business visits M&F will do this year.
The Danish trade delegation at this visit will be very large!
Just like DK, the Netherlands has a large off shore industry, which with the plans of building large off shore windmill farms, will be very busy in the years to come. And of course both countries are interesting in joint ventures and supplying equipment, personnel, know how and countless other things in connection with the off shore industry. - So we are talking serious money for both countries.

M&F are going to be pretty wasted when they return from this visit!

CP Frederik and CP Mary arrived yesterday in Netherland

"The Crown Prince and Crown Princess landed at Rotterdam Airport last night, where their Royal Highnesses were received by Denmark's Ambassador to the Netherlands, His Excellency Jarl Frijs-Madsen, and Deputy Head of the Embassy Anne Ege Møller, who gave a short briefing on the program with Minister of Health Magnus Heunicke.

Then went to Huis ten Bosch in The Hague, where the Royal Couple of the Netherlands, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and Queen Máxima, have invited the Crown Prince and Crown Princess as guests in the Majesties' official residence."

That agenda is jammed packed!!!

It is. Between individual and joint events there are 21 over two days!! It is absolutely an insane schedule...but I think Frederik and Mary thrive and excel on these business promotion trips!! I believe this is the first business trip since they went to France in 2019!

They are an absolutely fantastic and formidable team! Exemplar representatives of and for Denmark!

And I agree...it is a packed schedule....I think they thrive on it though! Exhausting yes...but they do such a magnificent job...They really shine with these types of trips...true power couple.

This is the link to the photo gallery of the official website for the trip. They have been posting photos per event. The photos are also available for download for free.

It sure is!

One of the most busy for a long time, in fact.

This is one of the largest and most intensive commerce offensives for years.
The reason is very simple: This is about money, a lot of them. And jobs. Tens of thousands of jobs.
Because the Continental part of the North Sea at least will be buzzing with activity over the next 25 years. And of course Danish businesses intends to get a good slice of that cake.
It goes the other way as well. Dutch businesses, off shore, energy and infrastructure also want their share of the Danish market. Improving Danish flow of energy to the EU grid, preferably last week, being a current priority.
Because ironically, Scandinavia overall produce a surplus of energy, but we have problems storing it and sending it down to the rest of EU via the electric grid that is in place.
There is a bottleneck in Northern Germany in the EU-energy grid, which needs to be fixed first.
Because oil and gas from Norway and from next year Denmark again (DK is currently EU's largest producer of oil and gas and when the off-shore platforms are reactivated again next year, that will go up.) is not a problem, that can be stored.
But electricity from nuclear-plants, (Sweden) hydro-electric plants, (mainly Norway but also Sweden) and windmills (mainly Denmark) is more difficult to store and more fluctuating. It basically needs to be send into the EU-grid as it is being produced. - Simplified of course. Hence the need for a better energy-infra structure.

Thanks Muhler! This puts the trip into a greater perspective! And IMO should be the focus of the press that traveled to the Netherlands to supposedly cover the actual events they are attending and the issues involved. But that does not get clicks, right? But M&F are obviously working their backsides off the next two days! And this is something that they do an exemplar job at.

Alas, "boring" coverage about commerce is not as sexy as a nice juicy personal story about M&F.

As such I can imagine M&F taking turns banging their heads against the walls, because they didn't get this IMO rather trivial personal story out of the way before going to the Netherlands.
It will, I'm sure, annoy both of them from a professional level. But also because of all the work they are putting into this.

Fortunately the Dutch representatives they are meeting, are unlikely to read Danish tabloids, let alone care.

Day 2 from the DRF
https://www.instagram.com/p/CfEds1fDjmP/?hl=da

2.5 kilometers down the underground, the Netherlands has managed to find good conditions for geothermal district heating, which is expected to be able to heat larger parts of the suburb of Delft with renewable energy. The excavation for the deep will begin soon and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince therefore visited today the excavation site, which is located on the campus of the Technical University, TU Delft.
The talk about sustainable energy continued at the Cambridge Innovation Centre, which houses 250 entrepreneurs in the heart of the big city of Rotterdam. After a roundtable discussion with entrepreneurs working with health and energy, His Royal Highness drove along the river Nieuwe Maas to Europe's largest port area, where the Danish company RelyOn Nutec hosted a seminar on offshore v inner energy and the power-to-x.
Using 1,500 litres of liquid natural gas, RelyOn Nutec subsequently demonstrated how their training facilities can be used for industrial safety research. The Crown Prince then sailed out of the industrial harbor with the ship Princess Amalia together with parts of the Danish business delegation, who along the way participated in a network lunch on the use of wind energy and storage of it, before His Royal Highness became a sail. one ashore and continued on to the last program point of the business development in The Hague

Thanks! I understand that men in business suits talking about renewable energy is not as exciting, but it is a very important issue and becoming more and more relevant by the day! I am going to start to wonder if Frederik starts to do these appearances in one of Mary's outfits, if he would get the press these issues deserve! (I'm only kidding...well, maybe not!!):whistling:

They do cover alot. This trip was a collective 21 events on their schedule! It also helps that they can cover any of the events because they are well-versed on all the areas being covered. They both can handle the heavy lifting...if that makes sense. So they can cover many more events in a short period. Even visiting vendors, they each take part of the room and can cover more.
