I forbindelse med karetturen er der oprettet 7 forskellige steder, hvor der i ventetiden - inden den royale karet kommer forbi, bliver afviklet en række forskellige underholdende aktiviteter:

2) Fibigerplads/balkonen v/Nykredit(Rosensgade).
3) Lille Torv/Magasin & BG Bank.
4) Store Torv/Hotel Royal (balkonen).
5) Strøget/Salling.
6) Banegårdsplads.

1) Nørregade/Norsgade.
Odder garden. Blandet garde af ca. 70 drenge og piger i musikalsk tattoo.

2) Fibigerplads/balkonen ved Nykredit i Rosensgade.
Korinord som er et rytmisk kor, bestående af ca 45 sangere underholder med et blandet program som er specielt sammensat til dagen.

3) Lille Torv/Magasin & BG Bank.
Grønlænderkoret KAJAK, med en musikalsk hilsen til kronprinsparret fra Grønland.

4) Store Torv/Hotel Royal.
Solister fra Den Jyske Opera - på balkonscenen.

5)Strøget/Salling.
Blandet underholdning, hvor bl.a. kor og solister fra Vilhelmsborg Festspil giver prøver på årets opsætning af "Mød mig på Cassiopeja".

6)Banegårdsplads.
Balkonen over hovedindgangen til banegården. AROS jagthornsblæsere med omkring 20 deltagere underholder.

7)Bruuns Galleri.
Flag og blomster garneret med musikalsk/australsk underholdning hilser kronprinsparret velkommen og markerer samtidigt åbningen af den australske uge i Bruuns Galleri.

Post Danmark med "Den store røde postkasse" hvorfra der sælges postens "et eventyr fortalt i frimærker".

Kl. 11.00: Kronprins Frederik og kronprinsesse Mary ankommer i kareten ledsaget af gardehusar-regimentet til Rådhuset, hvor borgmester Louise Gade og 1.viceborgmester Poul B. Skou byder velkommen.

My overall comments on the programme in Aalborg:

I think, it is a good programme for the couples first visit in town. Afterall the main purpose is to make a possibility for danes all over the country to greet the new crown princess. The walks around various parts of the town makes that possible. Frederik has visited the town on several occasions, and both of them will probably be back on several occasions. Therefore I think, that making this visit a "festival for the inhabitant" is a good choice

I do hope, Mary receives a warning, so that she won't wear her most uncomfortable shoes

And than of course I hope, that it will be a sunny day. Trust me, I will be on the streets that day

Is it a case, that the word, "ghetto" is more polite than the word "slum"?

also, is this a case of the Danes tucking the "slum" into a smaller provincial city as opposed to Copenhagen ? Surely every town, like in Canada has a poorer part ? So ... what sets Odense apart ?

Well, I would say, that Vollsmose is more a ghetto than slum.

My electronic Oxford dictionary tells me, that a 'Ghetto' is:

'an area of a city where many people of the same race or background live, separately from the rest of the population'

while 'slum' is:

'an area of a city that is very poor and where the houses are dirty and in bad condition'.

Vollsmose is primarily populated by non-ethnic danes, but the buildings aren't really slum. They are from the not so glorious architectural period in which concrete were seen as a usefull building-material, but one of the means in the non-successfull efforts of non-ghettoising (??) the area, has been to improve and modernize the buildings.

Sure every town has their own 'ghettos', but Vollsmose is in Denmark one of the most notorious. If it is fair is hard for me to say...

Well, we saw them board the "chalup", which take them to Dannebrog.

I couldn't find any pictures at Polfoto yet.

I think, this site probably will be updated with photos....

Just saw the balconyscene at the townhall in Aarhus. The crowd demanded a kiss, and Frederik gave his Mary a wee kiss the 3rd and last time, they went out on the balcony
