Weekly Update to 24th December, 2020

Happy New Year

Although this is only to the 24th December I expect it to be pretty much the same to the 31st December. So far there have been no new engagements in the final week of the year but I wouldn't be surprised if there is one more to come - an audience between the Queen and Boris Johnson to coincide with the passing of the Brexit Agreement through British parliament and the signing of that agreement into law. I am checking The Times quite regularly to see when the edition for the 31st December does appear. Of course it is possible that any such audience could appear as a 'late entry on Monday or Tuesday next week.

I am also working on my yearly analysis of each royal (takes about two days to put that together) and when it is done I will post that so you can see what types of engagements each royal has done as well as the charities they have supported and other places/organisations they have supported this year.

I would also like to thank those people who have given their thanks, sent me PMs etc throughout the year showing their support and encouragement, especially when I had decided to leave the board.

?:newyear: Happy New Year ILuvBertie and thank you for the research and work that goes into producing your weekly and annual tallies throughout the year. I only wish that you could take on and work your magic with that sadly neglected online version of the Court Circular. The Daily Mail has just released its version of the BRF's engagements for 2020. Since they use only the online version as their source, there are significant errors in their final numbers. Their article claims that the Duchess of Cambridge tallied only 68 engagements and the Countess of Wessex only 78.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/...-carried-half-engagements-virtually-2020.html

They will, I presume, do the same thing they did during the lock downs in 2020 - use video and phone links.

I am almost finished my yearly analysis so should start putting that up later today - with the overall and then royal by royal showing the types of engagements each royal did along with the charities etc they supported.

I started to subscribe to The Times to simply get the CC on a reliable basis. The online CC was missing about 10% of all engagements a week or so ago but it has updated most of December since then.

This is my annual analysis. I am starting with Total Engagements with Individual Percentage of Total (Figures in the second brackets are the percentage of engagements from 2019. I think comparing the percentage, due to covid, will show how much more or less someone did in 2020 compared to 2019 of the overall rather than the plain figures. Some don’t appear in this list as they did no engagements at all in 2020)

HM The Queen – 142 (8.2%) [7.9%]
HRH The Duke of Edinburgh – 3 (0.2%) [0.1%]

HRH The Prince of Wales – 286 (16.6%) [14.6%]
HRH The Duchess of Cornwall – 139 (8.1%) [6.7%]

HRH The Duke of Cambridge – 187 (10.9%) [6.4%)]
HRH The Duchess of Cambridge – 130 (7.5%) [3.5%]

HRH The Duke of Sussex – 2 (0.1%) [4.3%]
HRH The Duchess of Sussex – 1 (0.1%) [1.7%]

HRH The Duke of York – 1 (0.1%) [8.0%]
HRH The Earl of Wessex – 189 (11.0%) [8.6%]
HRH The Countess of Wessex – 166 (9.6%) [6.7%]
HRH The Princess Royal – 247 (14.3%) [13.9%]
Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence – 12 (0.7%) [1.3%]

HRH The Duke of Gloucester – 79 (4.6%) [6.2%]
HRH The Duchess of Gloucester – 54 (3.1%) [2.2%]
HRH The Duke of Kent – 71 (4.1%) [5.6%]
