The Belgian Royal Palace has announced today that Her Majesty Queen Mathilde was appointed as member of the Advocacy Group for Sustainable Development (Sustainable Development Goals – SDGs) by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-Moon.

The group consists of 15 eminent personalities that will help the Organization of the United Nations to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

Last September, the United Nations Member States adopted the Sustainable Development Goals as a commitment by all nations to work together in the fight against poverty, injustice, climate changes, hungry and other topics and to build peace and a secure life for the present and future generations.

The UN invitation is a recognition for the work made by the Queen in the fields of development, humanitarian, children’s rights, health and education.
